membership in Masonic orders. I obtain great satisfaction and fulfillment in performing community service, and I

enjoy a good time every now and then!

I was born and raised in Opp, Alabama. I currently reside in Jacksonville,

Alabama (until Sept 2012 then I will be moving to Ft. Hood, Texas). I have

one son, Trent Trafford Jr. (TJ), age 15.

I enjoy serving the community and being a positive influence on young peo-

ple. I like reading, basketball and relaxing. I deployed to Afghanistan right

after creation so I can only say I'm privileged to be part of the Al-Karim his-

tory and I look forward to being more than a name on the rolls once I re-

deploy in July.

On Mar. 1st roughly 40 Afghan National Army and coalition members gathered at the Afghan operated 2nd Forward

Support Depot (FSD) Class II warehouse to witness and celebrate the promotion of U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer

III, Quartina Trafford, a supply advisor at Camp Hero, Afghanistan.

Trafford, from the 167th Theater Sustainment Command at Fort McClellan, Ala., deployed to Afghanistan in July

2011. She’s the first female Chief Warrant Officer to serve in an advisor role at FSD. U.S. Army Major Crystal Hills,

Trafford’s former commander while assigned to the 348th Quartermaster Company in Korea, wrote Trafford’s recom-

mendation for Warrant Officer Candidacy School in 2004. Eight years later, and also deployed to Afghanistan, it was

fitting for Maj. Hills to be part of the promotion ceremony.

Unit Highlight

Chant·ress: [chan-tris] noun: a woman who chants or sings.

Al-Karim Court No. 219 O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done

marvelous things! Psalms 98:1

On the afternoon of January 14, 2012 in Newnan, Georgia, Illustrious

Commandress Deidra P. Wilson invited all interested daughters of Al-Karim

Court No. 219 to assemble at Newnan Lodge for a brief informal meeting.

This meeting was to organize various units within the court. That afternoon,

twenty daughters signed up to be a part of the choir of Al-Karim Court.

Charter members include Daughters Frieda Aden, Terri Howard, Tracy Matthews, Kathi Henson, Deidra

Wilson, Patricia Bostic, Lisa Rand, Vanessa Williams, Wanda Hammonds, Terry Huitt, Cassandra Snipes,

Patricia Redding, Barbara Moore, Marcia Brown, Loree Robinson, Shamakia Stephens, Sylvia Johnson, Carol

Dees, Carol Arnold, and Michelle Jackson.

It was the idea of Illustrious Commandress Wilson to have voices she could depend upon to lead the court in

the opening and closing hymns and the congregational hymns at the Daughters of Isis Thanksgiving Service.

Taking the command, Daughter Patricia Redding accepted the position as Directress, and the unit was off and

running. Special thanks to Mrs. Irma Harding who graciously opened her home and assists us as musician.

First order of business, rehearsal! It was an awesome task working around busy schedules but dedication and

the love of singing kept the group together. To showcase our talent, Illustrious Commandress invited the

choir to perform at the Court’s Evening of Elegance pageant. Daughters who made up the first performance

were Daughters Redding, Aden, Howard, Bostic, Snipes, Dees, Jackson and Williams. Next stop,

Thanksgiving Service.

By now, voices begin to gel and confidence grew higher. The choir was asked to render a selection at Al-

Karim’s Thanksgiving service. Daughters who performed were Daughters Redding, Aden, Brown, Moore,

Bostic, Howard, Snipes, Williams, Huitt, Dees, Jackson, and new comer, Meshea Web.

Part of the department and programs of the Imperial Court of the Daughters of Isis as outlined in the

Administrative Manual, calls for music. There are two divisions of this department: The Choir and The

Chantresses. The Chantresses promote and develop vocal groups in the constituent courts.

The Chantresses of Al-Karim continue to fine tune their voices by scheduling rehearsals for the 4th Friday of

each month and build a repertoire suitable for ministry. The invitation is open to all who are serious about

singing and promoting harmony through music. Look for future performances from the group. Plans are

underway for a fundraiser and perhaps a musical festival in the future. We solicit your support and your

prayers that we uphold that which has been instructed in Psalms 98 and that is to sing unto the Lord, a new

song for He has done marvelous things.

Respectfully submitted ~
