Jr. Youth NewsThe junior youth have enjoyed afternoons painting and createdsome really cool artwork. They painted a neighborhood where each

child drew their house and yard and a road ran through to each.

They also traced their bodies on paper and then designed and

painted a powwow outfit on their outline. This was a very exciting

project for the kids and took them about three after school sessions

to finish. The youth are very proud of the finished paintings, which

are displayed around the center (see pg. 3 for pics). They received

many positive and impressive compliments. As Christmas was

approaching, the children made ornaments and strung popcorn for

the tree. They also painted pinecones and created handmade cardsto give to their parents the night of the Christmas dinner. They

were very excited to put a gift under the Christmas tree for their

parents. We are looking forward to the New Year and more new,

exciting and fun experiences for the junior youth.

The drumming and singing program has moved into a new

phase: making hand drums from scratch. The drumming and

singing program would like to thank Tom Quillen and David

Gourd for scraping the deer hides as well as Terry Schmidt,

Eileen Brown and Tom Quillen for the deer hide donation.

Another big THANK YOU to Tom Quillen for the wood for

the drum frames and instructional help. The group plans on

making 12 drums and there is still time to come to the class

and make one. Come to the Center at 4:30pm on Tuesdays andlearn how! Call 715-845-9765 for more info.

Regardless of whether the past year was good or bad,it’s exciting to think about what the New Year may

bring and what we can do to improve our lives. Take ita day at a time and remember to smile J This is yourlife, live it happy. In order to make the most of your time, live as if everyday was the last day of

 your life. This means you must avoid postponing and excel in whatever youdo. This is a new year with great possibilities and opportunities. Try something different and exciting. Enjoy the New Year friends and family!!!!T o h e l p w i t h g e t t i n g h e a l t h y a n d f i t , Z u m b a w i l l b e s t a r t i n g i n

The Senior youth have been meeting every Wednesday night at 6 pm. They’ve

decided to start a homework hour before their Youth Council meetings and ithas been a success. They spend the hour together, sharing a healthy snack and

helping each other with homework. Tutors are available to help also, and they

have been doing a wonderful job helping each other. Computers and a printer

are also available as needed for the students. When homework hour is finished,

the Youth Council conducts their meeting and they have been working on some

ideas for upcoming events. The Polar Plunge is one thing they all agreed that

they would like to participate in and raise money for the Special Olympics. Wewill be getting more details and the youth will be collecting donations for the

event in February. Youth in grades 6-12 are invited to

participate on Wednesdays!

Senior Youth News

On December 27, CWNA Youth Council president, Kinesha Stoner,

took it upon herself to try and conquer the monster pizza challenge at

Politos Pizza in downtown Wausau. Kinesha and her mother, Jolene,

gave it their all, but the pizza defeated them. They gave it a goodtry and they were planning on donating the loot to the Youth

Council. Maybe next time girls....
