BLOCKED: Great North Transport commuters block road aft er their community was not allocated a bus.
GNT management accused of being rudeCOMMUTERS in Hoedspruit and the surrounding areas accuse the Great North Transport management of being rude after the manager told them that he didn’t go around with a bucket on his head selling bus tickets.
The commuters got this response from the manager known only as Lekwadi, after they went to the depot to ask why their community are not allocated a bus to take them home to Timbavati Village last Tuesday.
‘The manager told us that he didn’t force us to buy the tickets neither did he whip us with a sjambok. Since the company changed its management we have been suffering, the previous manager was a good lead who listened to commuters but this Lekwadi guy is a pain I tell you,’ said Rodgers Mathabele.
Mathabele said that the respond just shows that the company doesn’t care about their commuters.Last Tuesday the commuters blocked the road from the depot after they were not allocated a bus to take them home.
After the protests a bus was given to the Hoedspruit workers but on Wednesday they were insulted after they went to enquire about the bus shortage as a result after going home on other village buses two buses were smashed their windows. On Thursday the police were waiting for the boycotters who
failed to make an appearance at their usual protesting place. The problem of a bus not been allocated to Timbavati Village started in the beginning of he month and the commuters are furious because this is not the fi rst time the management decided to take their bus.
Great North Transport’s Chief Operating Offi cer, Nkhensani Hlongwane said that the commuters who are going to Timbavati have an option to choose from three buses that are passing via their area as a result there is no shortage in the area.
‘We have close to 48 buses in Hoedspruit depot with only 35 being subsidised by the department. This shows that we care about our passengers if we are giving them more buses that are not subsidised,’ said Hlungwane.
Hlungwane said that they have monitored the buses in the area and they are satisfi ed that there are no over loads. He said that commuters that are protesting are just being infl uenced but failed to mention who is behind the infl uence.
Hlungwane said that the matter of windows that were smashed, the police will handle the matter as is now a criminal case.Hoedspruit police spokesperson Constable Lucky Makutu said he was not aware of any case of malicious damage to property that was reported by the company.
Two would-be poachers arrestedPOLICE in Hoedspruit arrested two suspected poachers after rangers corned them outside Chimanimani Lodge on the Guernsey road last Friday.
According to Hoedspruit police spokesperson, Constable Lucky Makutu, there were fi ve suspects in a vehicle which was driving towards Chimanimani Lodge.
‘Rangers stopped the car and three male
occupants fl ed and two female occupants were apprehended after a hunting rifl e and ammunitions were found in the car,’ said Makutu. The two suspects aged 32 and 50 were arrested. At the time of going to press, the suspects were due to appear in the Phalaborwa Magistrate’s Court for possession of unlicensed fi rearm and ammunition.
Suspected poachers in courtFOUR suspected wild animal poachers were given R3000 bail each when they appeared in the Hoedspruit Magistrate Court last Friday.
The four appeared on charges of possession of unlicensed fi rearm and ammunitions. The suspects were making their second appearance since their arrest on May 6 by the police with the help of the Hoedspruit Farmwatch.
According to Hoedspruit police spokesperson, Constable Lucky Makutu, the suspects were arrested near Kampersrus road after they received a tip off about a
planed poaching in the nearby area.‘The police together with Hoedspruit
Farmwatch stopped a car with fi ve occupants and they were searched. During the search the police found a rifl e and ammunitions in the vehicle,’ said Makutu. All suspects were arrested but one of them was released as he was not linked to the charges. Makutu identifi ed the suspects as Eunice Gumede (39), Elfi e Ngobeni (34), Doctor Mhlanga (42) and Andrew Ndlovu (28) . The suspects were released on R3000 bail and their case was postponed to July 30 for further investigations.
Illegal squatters invade vacant landSHACK dwellers who were removed two weeks ago from the land they occupied illegally near the R40 road between Hoedspruit and Phalaborwa are now squatting just a few meters away from where they were removed.
In the beginning of the month the squatters were removed from the land belonging Julius Johannes Frichard Trust. When they were moved from where they were living illegally, Martha Monareng (56) from Mashishimale in Phalaborwa said that even if they demolish their shacks, when the TLB leaves they will
erect other shacks over and over again. What she said is exactly what is happening now as they are squatting at any place they fi nd vacant in town.On Tuesday, the Maruleng municipal spokesperson, John Seokoma said that they are busy trying to fi nd this people a suitable place to stay.‘We don’t have a land of our own to provide to them but we are doing everything we can to seek a place where they can stay. We have already spoken to Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs (COGHSTA) to assist
in this regard,’ said Seokoma. He said that on Tuesday there were no squatters on the municipality’s stand.

PHALABORWA TEAM: Rainier Prinsloo, agriculture, Marthie Kunneke Sales representi ti ve, Steven Rademan, Sales Director, Sonja Landsberg, Admin, Gerhard Posthumus, Managing Director and Pieter Pelser Manager Limpopo and Phalaborwa. ASSESSORS: Julius Klokow and Siyabulela Mase stati oned in Phalaborwa.
New office in Phalaborwa for service providerTransvaal Training, a service provider that specializes in the training of lifting machines, mobile plant and equipment (earthmoving and mining) advanced driver training, occupational health and safety and safety skills, opened an offi ce in Phalaborwa last week.
Gerhard Posthumus, Managing Director, says that because of the high volume of services needed in the Ba-Phalaborwa area an offi ce here became essential.
He says that Transvaal Training has
accreditation with all the necessary authorities. It has a long time relationship with the mining industry such as Palabora Copper and LA Crushers in Phalaborwa.
He furthermore says that Transvaal Training has full time instructors in Phalaborwa to assist businesses.
Pieter Pelser, manager of Limpopo and the new Phalaborwa branch, says that they specialize in, on site training, to teach trainees with their own equipment and in their own special environment.
Women in court for assaultFour women suspected of beating up a woman in Finale Village appeared in Naphuno Magistrate Court last Friday for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The suspects, Esther Sebatane (42), Joyce Malai Sebatane (48), Eulenda Sebatane (26) and Magdalene Sebatane (28) were given
R500 bail each.According to Hoedspruit police
spokesperson, Constable Lucky Makutu ,the suspects beat up a 32-year-old woman last Wednesday.
The case was postponed to July 2 for further investigations.
Four arrested during raids on farmsFour people were arrested for possession of dagga during a joint raid by the Hoedspruit police, Quemic, Protrac Anti Poaching and Farmwatch last Friday.
The suspects whose ages raange from 32 to 48 years were warned to appear in court this
Thursday after they were released from police custody.
The raids were conducted in all farms in Hoedspruit in an efforts to get rid of crime in the farms.
This can be done anywhere in South Africa and abroad where needed.
Training can also be done on a one on one basis and it is not necessary for businesses to try and get groups together. Persons that are not currently employed can also apply to be trained to get a qualifi cation to help them fi nd employment easier.
Gerhard Posthumus says that Transvaal Training was founded on July 5 1994, and has grown into a business with branches all over South Africa as well as in Mozambique, Zambia, Congo and Tanzania.
He says Transvaal Training can also assist businesses to claim a refund of the monies, that was spent on the training of employees, from the Skills Development Fund. This means that business owners can actually get their employees trained free of charge. There is a great need for training in the agricultural industry and they are now rendering a specialized service for this market as well, said Posthumus.
For more information and to arrange an appointment, contact Sonja Landsberg at the Phalaborwa offi ce on 074 433 7986.

6 HOEDSPRUIT HERALD Friday June 20, 2014SKOLENUUS
Soos elke anderkeer was daar ‘n boodskap, hierdie is na alles ‘n opvoedkundige i n s t e l l i n g .
Elkeen v a n ons het iemand n o d i g wat in j o u g l o , j o u e i e
superheld.
Wie se held is jy? Span jou
superkragte in en maak ‘n verskil. As Riepies sing, sing hulle van
toeka tot nou. Sing
hulle in die R o o i t a a l ,
d i e s o e t s t e
taal.
