Why Technology in Agriculture in India is Important
Technology in Agriculture 04/07/2023 4
• Agriculture is high on the global agenda because of volatile food prices and other factors.
• Billions of people remain hungry and malnourished.
• Agriculture, nutrition, and health are linked in important ways, but the three sectors rarely work together toward their common goals.
• We need to learn much more about how to make new and existing agricultural investments more nutrition- and health-friendly.

SOLUTION: NITROGEN FIXATION
This natural fixation process is due to certain micro organisms that live freely within the soil, and on the soil and leaf surfaces;
Other micro-organisms are symbiotic with plants, for example, Rhizobia with the legumes & Actinorhizae in rice paddies and other wetlands, Anabaena with Azolla

BIOTECHNOLOGY• Bt crops: Crops that are genetically
engineered to carry a gene from the soil bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt).
• The bacterium produces proteins that are toxic to some pests but non-toxic to humans and other mammals.
• Crops containing the Bt gene are able to produce this toxin, thereby providing protection for the plant. Bt corn and Bt cotton are examples of commercially available Bt crops.

WHY INDIA IS NOT UP TO THE MARK IN AGRICULTURE
No idea of Government Schemes
Lack of publicity
Lack of awareness
No Initiative from the people
Technology in Agriculture 04/07/2023 14
The government of India should take initiatives to contribute towards
Agriculture
Can help the farmers by converting salt water into good water which
will help in increasing the productivity.
As government is giving money at the time of flood, they can
allocate some amount of money for providing technology.
Motivate the people to avail the benefit given by the government.
