IV. Chair’s Report - Maria Solano
Richard Katz is continuing to support TBAC. Putting together a report for Metro Board which will be presented next month, January. Richard Katz was invited to speak at Meet the Primes in January. Director Katz wanted TBAC to find ways to not put an unbundling, which would not be a cumbrance on project management. Amy Richardson said that because the Metro Board Meeting was scheduled the week of the US President’s Inauguration, February might be a better opportunity for a better audience. Will check on dates to see if we can get a response from Director Katz.
Updating Metro’s technology. Item number 1 is not available and needs to be updated technology wise.
V. METRO Contracting Opportunities – Updated by Tashai Smith Current Solicitation and Contract Look-Ahead for December submitted. Concern-
Documents are not complete. Need more detail in NAICS codes. If a small business is not certified, how do we encourage them to start bidding? Sherman Gay, Metro’s Outreach Representative, is doing great with the Small Business Program. A firm does not have to be certified with Metro to bid on an RFP. According to Sherman, if a company hasn’t done business with a public agency then Metro’s Small Business Certification Workshop is very helpful. The workshops are fully booked till February 2009 (contact Sherman at [email protected]). The firms have to be registered as a vendor with Metro Procurement. Planning analysis in there.
On January 29th, 2009, “Meet the Primes” event, Director Richard Katz has
agreed to be present.
January 22nd, 2009 Women Transportation Seminar will be having a small business entrepreneur event in the Metro Board Room. (Jackie Patterson and Lisa Garza.)
