GATHERING AGAIN PLAN A plan for Christ the King to begin meeting in person beginning Sunday, June 21, 2020 Christ the King (845) 256-8480 [email protected] SELFLESSNESS BEST MEDICAL PRACTICES CARE OF THE BODY Our Lord Jesus said to us, “I give you a new commandment, that you love one another.” (John 13:34). These words remind us that gathering again is about loving him and loving each other. The act of gathering again is a sign of our love for God. The way we gather will be a fulfillment of the commandment of how we love one another. The first principle of gathering again is “Selflessness”. “Just as you did it to the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.” (Matt. 25:40). “No longer drink only water, but take a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent ailments,” St. Paul tells Timothy (1Timothy 5:23). Wine was thought to be some good medical advice of the time. We, too, will follow the best medical practices because they are a gift from God to us. As the shepherds of our flock, we are constantly trying to keep up with the best information from public health officials to make sure we are selflessly caring for the needs of everyone at Christ the King. “If a brother or sister is naked and lacks daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and eat your fill,” and ye you do not supply their bodily needs, what is the good of that? Faith without works is dead.” (James 2:14- 17). As we can see from St. James’ injunction, loving each other involves caring for one another’s bodily needs. This virus demands that we care for the needs of those who are the least of these. We need to care for the bodily needs of those who are in high risk categories. Guiding Principles TEMPORARY HOME CHAPELS DISCONTINUED Temporary Home Chapels will be discontinued except for those who are in the highest of risk groups and cannot venture into groups. Anyone who is in a CDC high risk group, may request that their Temporary Home Chapel be Continued. Please email Fr. Mark at: [email protected] SMALLER MASS ATTENDANCE, BUT DAILY MASSES In order to meet the guidelines that call for us to have smaller gatherings and to meet the worship and sacramental needs of the people, we will open the Daily Mass to in-person attendance with reservations. In addition to the regular schedule of Masses, we may add additional Masses in the future (TBD). All Masses will be without music, except for the principal Mass at 10am Sundays. RESERVATIONS We will have to limit the number of people who may attend Mass per the guidelines of public health officials. We will use EventBrite online for you to reserve a spot at a Mass. You may attend any Mass during the week, except Wednesday Noon Mass which is reserved for those over 70 or in a high-risk group. We have a maximum capacity of 43 persons besides presider, deacon, ushers, musician, and tech ministers. USHERS WILL GIVE DIRECTION Fr. Mark has given the ushers authority to enforce the policies and procedures. Listen to their directions so that everything goes smoothly. What To Expect
