existing”, he must have had someone like Dr. Rashidat Oluwafunke Ayanniyi, the Ag. Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceut ical Sciences , University of Ilorin, in mind, This is because at an early age, Dr. Ayanniyi had always had her curiosity piqued in trying to understand how tablets are made and now, many years after, as a scholar charged with overseeing the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at a relatively young age, part of her core aspirations for the Faculty has coalesced around how the Faculty can centrally translate its research into useful products for members of the immediate community and the society at large. With specific research interests in the areas of Pharmacology and Ethno-Pharmacology, Dr. Ayanniyi who hails from Igbaja in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, was born in Zaria, Kaduna State. She attended Ahmadu Bello University Staff School, Zaria, for her primary school education and Command Secondary School, Jos, between 1984 and 1989. For her tertiary education, the Ag. Dean obtained, in 1996, a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Jos. In the same Institution, she received a Master of Science degree in Pharmacology in 2009, before proceeding to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria for her PhD in Pharmacology which she earned in 2015. She also has a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the U n i v e r s i t y o f I l o r i n . A n accomplished researcher and

administrator, Dr. Ayanniyi is a recipient of many national awards and scholarships among which are the British Pharmacological Society Bursary Grant, Institution based Research IBR/TETFUND and the Senate Research Grant of the University of Ilorin. As a distinguished academic, she has many publications to her credit, in addition to presenting papers at various national and international fora. This distinguished scholar belongs to many professional bodies. Among these include the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET), Science Association of Nigeria (SAN), West African Society of Pharmacology (WASP) as well as the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN).

Between 2013 and 2018, Dr. Ayanniyi who is the current Chairman of the Faculty Library Committee, has served in various capacities- as Research Manager of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical

Sciences, Faculty Representative in the Postgraduate School and Faculty Representative, Business Committee of Senate. Before her present appointment as Ag. Dean of the Faculty, she was the Coordinator and later the Ag. Head of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology between 2013 and 2016, and 2016 and 2017 respectively. She is a member of the Faculty Ethical Review Committee as well as the Circulation Editor of the Journal of P h a r m a c e u t i c a l R e s e a r c h , Development and Practice from 2016 to date.

On her philosophy about life, the scholar said, “We should do things in our own way; we don't necessarily have to copy others and we should do things right; be honest and be hardworking; that is what has made me achieve what I have achieved so far. We shouldn't copy people but we should have our own ways of doing things and getting it right”.
