The Department of Statistics Afghanistan was established in 1972 under the provisions of the Statistics - Central Statistic Office.

• In 1978, under the provisions of Ministry of planning.

• In 1990 , name is change to ministry of statistics

• In 1994 , independent organization Central Statistics Organization.
