Our Existence On Earth
Our existence on earth depends on our surroundings, the
level of purity of resources provided to us by Mother
Nature.
These resources are broadly known as our environment.
Natural Treatment System
When we human being use these resources, we polluted them.
Mother Nature is having her own inbuilt unique system to
purify these polluted resources back to their original form.
These natural treatment systems are slow & time consuming
but at the same time are very effective in purification.
Due to rapid industrialization and population growth natural
resources are keep on over using both in terms of quantum as
well as degree.
The result - pollution generated is beyond the capacity of
natural system to treat them.
Pollution is a problem that effects every person on Earth;
however, not every nation is taking the issue seriously.
The longer pollution is allowed to run rampant across the
planet, the more difficult it will be to completely repair the
problem.
Some issues caused by pollution, including the suspected hole
in the ozone layer, can never be repaired and will only grow
worse if the situation is not addressed.
The decreased odds of being able to fully restore the
environment is one of the most important parts of the
pollution problem.
While using, we polluted, resources in three forms – Water, Air
& Solid Waste.

The wash water carries with it various constituents such as oil, grease, diesel, petrol, mud, muck etc., and sometimes organic / in-organic impurities also.

Laws - Water Pollution:
The Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act was enacted in 1974. The Act was amended in 1988.
The Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Cess Act was enacted in 1977. The Act was last amended in 2003
Law - Environment Protection:
The Environment (Protection) Act was enacted in 1986. The Act was last amended in 1991.
The water sources for service stations are normally the supply
from Municipal corporation or tanker or borewell water.
After washing vehicle, the generated wastewater either drain to
sewerage system or simply drain on earth, which consequently mix
with ground water.
The wastewater generated from service station has a lot of oil,
grease, fats and high degree of suspended solids, which is even
harmful for municipal treatment facilities. If mix with groundwater,
it will contaminated ground water which eventually affect our
surrounding, environment and our health in long run.
Considering these points a Water Recycle plant to clean effluent
and recycle it for further use is essential.
Considering the scarcity of water, which is keep on increasing day
by day, to arrange water itself a costlier affair, specially in summer
season.
The water scarcity situation is worsen by every passing day and it
is not going to improve in future too.
The pollution control norms are also keep on stringent and will be a
major issue even in near future.
So it is more financial viable solution to start reuse treated wash
water instead of fresh water.
(I) Primary treatment:
1. Screening: The Effluent from the source enter by gravity into screening chamber where a manual fine screen entraps the floating material and there by ensuring smooth running of the pumps in the later stages.
2. Oil and grease trap: Effluent from screen chamber enters in an oil and grease trap where the floating oil and grease is separated out by gravity and manually scooped out.
3. Equalization:Effluent free of screening, oil and grease enter by gravity into equalization tank where fluctuation in the flow, organic load, ph, temperature etc is equalized.
(II) Secondary Treatment:
4. Chemical Treatment Effluent from Collection Tank cum Equalization Tank pumped out to Flash Mixing Tank, where required quantity of lime and alum solution is added to effluent from lime and alum dosing tank.
Properly dosed effluent is then transferred to primary setting tank for sedimentation, after sedimentation of chemical sludge in primary settling tank, sludge is manually drain out to sludge drying beds and super fine over flow water from primary settling tank come to Filter Feed Sump by gravity.
(III) Tertiary Treatment Process
5. Pressure Sand Filter: The chemically sedimented super fine overflow water from primary settling tank now pump to Pressure Sand Filter by Filter Feed Pump. The filter ensures trapping of fine suspended solids, which remains in the water.
6. Activated Carbon Filter:The water with reduced suspended solids then passes through Activated Carbon Filter. The color, odor and remaining oil / grease if any will filter out here due to adsorption quality of Activated Carbon.
The treated water which is now free from impurities is available and can be reused for vehicle washing.
Many times we don’t realize, it’s not water, but profits going down the drain!
