Course Title
Leadership and Strategic Analysis (Regular Course/Master Degree)
Course Objectives At the conclusion of the course, students shall be able to:
Apply effective command and management abilities in all fields of
competence as commanding officers.
Develop the necessary knowledge, competencies and behaviors to actively
be part of the decision-making milieu of the Armed Force at the executive
level by:
Acquiring in-depth competence in the field of Air Power and Air Force
Employment Doctrine, and the ability to enhance them in a Joint and
International framework;
Acquiring standardized and appropriate management tools in the fields of
problem solving and decision making, also in order to develop “project-
based” complex activities;
Acquiring International Relations System’s analysis skills , with reference
to national strategic objectives.
At the conclusion of the course students will be granted a II Level Master
Degree in Leadership and Strategic Analysis by the Political and Social
Sciences Department of the University of Florence (UNIFI).
To apply for the course, Officers lacking the required educational
qualifications must pass two examinations, one for each module of the
Strategic-Political Area.
Upon request, high school graduate foreign students can enroll in the two
Strategic-Political Area modules to acquire the relevant qualifications.

Course Title Instructors’ Higher Training
Course Objectives
To provide participants with the methodologies and instruments aimed at
enhancing their ability to implement and support innovative teaching
procedures in a continued improvement framework specifically intended at
developing innovative projects while ensuring the solidity and continued
development of the Air Force.
Objectives are met by developing knowledge and competencies within the
framework of innovative teaching procedures aimed at further organizational
development. In particular, activities aim at developing professional figures
able to implement innovative teaching procedures which respond to Air
Force specific requirements as a function of the continued growth and
changes in our different fields of activity.
The course, besides providing a structured approach to all managerial
aspects of training by illustrating them in a complete, in-depth manner,
focuses on the development and enhancement of some specific dimensions
which may develop, integrate and complete the different professional figures
that make up the Air Force.
Duration 3 weeks + 3 weeks distance learning
Requirements Having attended the Instructors’ Training Course or Teaching
Methodologies Course (integrated with the E-learning Further Training
Course) proficiently;

Having attended the Basic Tactical Data Link Course or equivalent NATO
courses. Students must have good English and belong to the following
groups:
Officers: Pilots, Navigators, Air or Missile Defense Controllers;
Warrant Officers employed in the field of Tactical Data Links at NATO or
national level;
Personnel of NATO countries’ Armed Forces.

Course Objectives The ATC Aerodrome/Procedural Approach Basic Specialization Course aims
at providing students with the competences needed to be admitted to the
practical training phase to acquire one or more of the following
qualifications:
Visual Aerodrome (ADV)
Instrumental Aerodrome (ADI)
Radar Aerodrome (ADR)
Procedural Approach (APP)

The course consists in four instructional modules based on teaching of
international regulations currently in force and organized according to
Eurocontrol guidelines on the education of CTA Personnel.

Course Objectives To provide students with the theoretical competences necessary to qualify
and work as ATA/UIV (Flight Information Office) or ATA/APOC

visits at the UIV (Flight Information Office), Pratica di Mare Airport Control
Tower and SCC/AM (Coordination and Control Service/AF) at Ciampino.

Course Objectives To provide students with the theoretical competences which, having acquired
the relevant qualifications, will enable them to deal with approach
surveillance radar (APS RAD), terminal approach surveillance (APS RAD
TCL), precision radar surveillance APS RAD SRA/APS RAD GCA) and
air control radar (ACS RAD) .

Course Title FLIGHT SAFETY OFFICERS’ QUALIFICATION COURSE
Course Objectives To provide national Armed Forces and Armed Corps personnel, as well as
civilians form national organization and personnel of foreign Armed Forces
serving in the Air Force environment with Flight Safety education and
qualifications to deal with FS Prevention and Investigation activities
provided for by their Organizations and in line with Directive ISV-7, edition
2000: Qualification of AF Officers in the field of FS.

Lunch provided by I.S.S.V. during class days, dinner and accommodation as
well as meals on holiday provided by Comando Aeroporto Centocelle-
Rome.
Notes Foreign students are admitted to the course provided they have are proficient
in Italian. A final exam including a short dissertation concludes the course.
In order to qualify as FS Officers you must pass the exam and present a
dissertation. The course is held in Italian .
