Thank You

It was a beautiful day for the SHC 5th Annual Golf Outing! Thanks to our sponsors, donors, golf-ers, SHC staff and volun-teers for their help in making it a huge suc-cess.

This year’s Presenting Sponsor was Nexxus Gas Transmission, LLC

and the Corporate Sponsor was Clampco Products, Inc. Other major sponsors were Sherwin-Williams Co., Brunswick Auto Mart, Inc., Plante Moran, Summit Management Services, Inc., Knights of Columbus Medina Council 4168, Chevrolet of Wooster and event partner, Medina Country Club.

Additionally, local businesses, community members and friends of SHC helped make the event a success through their gener-ous gift basket donations and sponsorships on the golf course. Golfers with disabilities were able to play the course with a part-ner thanks to sponsorships from Animal Medical Centre of Medi-na, Doug Charnley, Fay Industries, Inc., Fire Loss Control, Inc., Pat & Bob Keel, James Kurek, Ohio Savings Bank, Steve & Ka-ren Petro, Remington Products, RMD Company, Chris Ruf,

tribute to their community. I looked back at the many notes and emails that I have received complementing our DSP staff at SHC. The following words have been used to describe our fan-tastic support staff: dependable, warm, caring, enthusiastic, funny, energetic, eager to learn, dedi-cated, compassionate, calm, trusted, joyful and attentive.

Our DSPs want individuals to ex-pand their skills, discover their talents, find meaningful ways to be a part of their communities and build friendships as well as assure that they are healthy, safe and happy.

What makes a great a Direct Support Professional? A willing-ness to let the individual you sup-port be in the driver’s seat of their life while you always have their back!

Thank you to all our DSP staff who make possibilities happen every day!

Source3Media, Phil Sterrett, TrailsEnd Landscape LTD, Tom & Judy Tulisiak and Westfield Bank. Dinner guests had an opportunity to bid on themed prize baskets and a fund-a-need auction to help subsidize campers’ fees for Camp Par-adise. Auctioneer Bob Hale, of Benefit Auction Services LLC, re-ceived an extraordinary, generous response from the crowd. Overall, the event raised more than $41,000 for the SHC Foundation, which includes more than $9,000 raised for our campers! The SHC Foun-dation supports critical programs and services for people with disabil-ities allowing them to live, learn, earn and play in their communities. A special thank you to the SHC Golf Committee for their tireless ef-forts in coordinating the fundraiser and the volunteers who helped make everything run smoothly that day! SHC thanks each of you for partnering with us in support of people with disabilities.

It was a beautiful evening on the square in Medina. Delicious pies and friends of SHC were plentiful and we were entertained by the Medina Community Band. We are grateful for our generous support-ers for their donations of cash, supplies and baked goods. A big “thank you” to the great group of volunteers who helped that even-ing, too. Your combined efforts raised more than $1000.00 for the Andy Gilroy Scholarship Fund! The Fund provides crucial financial assistance for campers to attend the summer program at Camp Paradise.
