Mandate of ACEI

“Responsible for actively identifying opportunities for the University of Calgary to encourage and improve

academic entrepreneurship, technology transfer and innovation.”

§ Emerged out of the Graduate Education Task Force§ Advisory to Ed McCauly, VP Research§ Comprised of faculty from across our campuses,

industry representatives and professional staff

§ 2014-2015 Goals:— Development of broader ACEI; reflecting campus diversity— Broad stakeholder engagement— [recommended] Strategic Plan for Entrepreneurship &

Problem Driven Research (PDR) is extrinsically motivated and addresses issues from outside stakeholders using fundamental and applied research approaches. As a service to the community, Problem Driven Research is inherently collaborative and provides research solutions to businesses, government and non- government organizations.
