ADVERT FINAL DESIGN

Page 3: Advert final design

At the top of the advert there is an image of the band. They are stood with together however not with their instruments as planned. You can see the top of the guitar strap with therefore implies that they do play their own instruments but it isn’t clear.

It is following the convention to an extent of rock bands by showing that they play their own instruments but this could be made a lot clearer.

Instead we just have the band as themselves, posing for the camera. This is still showing the audience who the band actually are; which is against conventions of rock videos as often they don’t feature on adverts.

The title of the band is written in big black bold lettering towards the center of the advert.

The fact that it is in black and that its bold draws the attention to the advert as it stands out against the white background. Thus, the audience are drawn into what the advert is saying which ultimately promotes the band

It has a pink line under the word 'another' which is something that is also on the digipak which links them. This is something that was on the design.

The font I used was Felix Titling as it was very bold and clear and I think it fi t in with the style of writing that would be on a rock album.

TITLE

The background of the advert matches the other ancillary tasks so by doing this it gives that link that the audience will recognize.

It has the triangle design using red, pink, blue, orange and purple.

These colours are bright so they stand out but they also go well together.

The bright colours make it stand out and catches your eye

It makes it something diff erent to look at but it also plays to the conventions of rock i.e. Coldplay have a patterned background on a couple of their album covers like Mylo Xyloto.

BACKGROUND

Page 6: Advert final design

I pretty much stayed to the design of the advert with the bottom of the advert includes the promotion methods.

To the bottom left of the advert shows what record label the band is signed to (Horizon Records). If the audience like bands that are signed to this label already it may incline them towards buying the album.

To the bottom right there are places where the single is available to buy i.e. ITunes and HMV. This is a marketing tool as if the audience like what they see they will be able to go out and buy the album.

The bottom center shows the website link where further information can be found on the band like tour dates, other singles etc.

PROMOTION METHODS

Page 7: Advert final design

Just above the promotion methods is the review from a magazine.

By seeing a positive review it makes the consumer more likely to buy the album if they’ve heard positive reviews they would want to hear it for themselves.

Also by having a more recognized company it would make the review seem more genuine due to the company having a higher status

Here we can apply the hypodermic needle theory as the audience are passive by telling them that the album Is good they may just go out and buy it

The single is then written underneath the band name, in a slightly bigger font but still using Felix Titling so that it looks clear

Again it is in black so that it stands out against the background

Written above the single title is the plug line of 'new single‘ this is a promotion method of drawing the audience in, they may want to know what the new single is about or what it is like

Written below the title is the date of the release. This is important information as if the audience has liked what they see they know when they can purchase the album

Therefore in all I have stuck relatively to the design except for the pose in the image. The background Is coherent with the website and the digipak. Most of the actual information is the same however there are a few minor detail changes. Overall I am happy with this advert as I believe that it matches the convention of rock/pop.
