Students from our school have recently undertaken an educational tour of the national capital. Students were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy. The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding of $80.00 per student, under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program, towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion. Carlisle Adventist Christian College would like to thank the Australian Government for their contribution towards the student’s excursion, which enhances their education. The students have created memories that will truly last a lifetime. Yes, we are all still recovering to varying degrees from the intensity of the itinerary, but what a week. Four Year 6 students from Riverside Adventist Christian School in Townsville joined us, and what a great group! What an adventure! The photos tell some of the story, but with God blessing us with different things every day, we know His hand was over us. We laughed, played, flew, sang, napped, drove, explored and threw snowballs for a special week that none of us will forget. Mrs Thomas, from Riverside, was with us and having Mr Skinner and Mrs Forbes supporting at every turn, the trip was such a success! We were so blessed to be able to see so many new and impressive sights in this great country. We saw miracles. We are in such awe of God, who guided and protected us throughout. Praise Him! There will be a large number of photos available to our Year 6 parents, which Mr Humphries will send via "WeTransfer" to your email address, or a USB stick (if you send one in this week). We are still waiting for some photos from other staff. Canberra is a special place and it was a privilege to take students, many of whom had never left Queensland, to these iconic and beautiful places. The words below are from our students, in response to our amazing trip to Canberra last week:

"The best part of the Canberra trip was seeing the lifeguard tower on Bondi Beach" - Jake "I think Canberra is so amazing! I really want to go again. My favourite parts were the snow and Questacon." – Isaac

"Canberra was the best. I really liked the War Memorial." – Mason "I have never seen snow before so the best thing was the snow." - Cameron S "I enjoyed Questacon the most. It's just full of fun rides and activities." – Olivia "I liked that we got to spend time with our friends in a different place." - Cameron B "Canberra was a great experience, learning about interesting new places and more about myself, too. I can't wait for others to experience it, too." - Dana - Mr Humphries

During the past two assemblies a handful of students were given a special award and tuckshop voucher, for their exemplary attitude, effort in class, helping others, and for showing a variety of other values that are encouraged at Carlisle.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart as if working for the Lord.

Over the long weekend, 4-6th October, Brayden Hess had the opportunity to attend the RCRA 1/8 Off-road Qld State Titles in Brisbane. He nominated in the EP Buggy class with 24 other drivers from Queensland and interstate. He won the Concourse Award for Best Looking Car, receiving a $20 gift voucher for Plaig Bearings. The qualifying rounds saw him with two 1st and three 2nd places, which sent him through to A-mains for the finals. Overall in the finals, he placed 6th, coming away with Sponsorship from 6Mik Tyres (www.6mik-racing.com). What a fantastic weekend! This year he has also continued to place 1st in the Outlaws class at the Remote Control Mackay and District Off Road Group (RCMAD), winning Top Qualifier (Outlaws) and 2nd place for both Outlaws and EP Buggy in the Mackay Cup 2019.

This Junior Camp (for 10-12 year olds) will be combined with the South Queensland SDA Church Conference.
