Wow Faith of Abram
Essence of Sunday SermonEssence of Sunday Sermon
Gen. 1-3, 12 ◎Ps. Pam
History of the Human Race and 3 Covenants
1. Edenic Covenant (Gen 1:28, 2:15-17)
In the Garden of Eden, God blessed man with the ability to multiply
across the land. He gave man the authority over all living things, and
also to take care the garden as well as enjoying the fruits in it. This
means that man needs to be alert while looking after all the lives, not
leaving foothold to the evil ones.
2. Adamic Covenant (Gen 3:14-21)
The will of Satan is for man to sin, and to rebel against God. Adam
and Eve sinned. This brings pain to women when they give birth.
Woman will always admire their husband. The land is cursed. Man
needs to work. Man faces death, but there will be salvation. This inci-
dent foretold the coming of the Messiah.
3. Noahic Covenant
God made covenant with man again, reaffirming the covenant in
Eden, and the rainbow is the mark of that covenant.
Why did God choose Abram?
1. Faith from God’s Words (Gen 12:1-3)
Abram responded to God's calling. He is willing to overcome “the fear
of the unknown” as he walk away from a comfort zone to an un-
known place. This great faith comes from hearing the word of God.
Therefore God promised to bless him, causing a great nation to rise
up from him. Giving a blessing is an act of adoration, in response to
“being WOWED” by Abram’s faith, even kneeling down to honour
him.
God made Abram the benchmark of blessings and curses, establishing
the principle of kingdom influence without partiality. The fullness of
the kingdom redemption will come through the line of Seth/Abram,
and eventually the Messiah, Jesus.
2. Faith in Obedience (Gen 12:4-6)
The most important element of faith is to be obedient to God. Obedi-
ence comes before revelation; faith comes before reasoning. . Faith is
the connecting medium in the relationship between man and God.
Obedience is the fruit of faith. It brings true blessing to man. Abram
brought his whole household and belonging and enter the Canaan
land, without being intimidated by the enemies of that land.
3. Faith with Worship (Gen 12:7-8)
God revealed Himself to Abram because He is attracted by his faith.
God blessed his descendants because of his obedience. God also
promised to bless his descendants with land. Abram responded with
words of love, and he built the altar to worship God as he communes
with God while offering himself to God.
Abram continues his journey. In between Bethel (house of God) and
Ai (destruction), Abram set his tents and built an altar for God. This
signifies that Abram and his descendants will bridge the gap between
the lost and God.
Abram had WOW faith:
WORDS of God created faith in Him
OBEDIENCE was result of that faith, and let to...
WORSHIP – a lifestyle of boldly living the kingdom by always putting
God first in his life.■

On Wednesday Morning Devotion, as co-
workers went on stage to conduct rhema
application, Ps. Amos was by my side sharing
with me what he felt was a revelation from
the Morning Devotion. He suddenly under-
stood why God bothered to discuss with
Abraham His intention to destroy Sodom &
Gomorrah. As God had called Abraham as the
Father of nations, and that nations will be blessed because of Abraham,
so when God planned to destroy these sinful cities, God made it a point
to discuss with this “Father” as God honors the title and authority that
Abraham now carried. Additionally, Abraham was deemed a close friend
of God, therefore God did not pass over him in this matter. As Abraham
heard what God told him, for five times, he pleaded God’s mercy for
Sodom, seeking its deliverance from judgment. Amazingly, God positive-
ly answered all five of Abraham’s requests.
Suddenly this rhema also dawned on me, and so Ps Amos and I discussed
the various prophecies given to us by different prophets of God. We
hoped to sort out from such prophecies on how would God view us, and
what has God promised us in the past? As we went through them, we
discovered that God gave us more than we ever merited. God called us
to be the forerunner, gave us keys to open doors, and also said wherever
we step on, He would give to us according to His promises. (Joshua 1:3),
then He gave us the land anointing, and to possess an authority on land.
He also gives us the Esther anointing of intercession and victory from
defeat. Yes, we believe our Heavenly Father is faithful to His own Word,
and He will honor the position, authority and anointing which He has
given to anyone. God is not an autocratic God, nor a “yes and no” God,
and He loves His children.
Thereafter we proceeded to Ipoh to settle some matters relating the
daughter church there. All along the way to Ipoh, we found that our
journey was smooth as all the traffic lights seemed synchronized for
green throughout. Looking out through the window, I chose to appreci-
ate the panoramic views and appreciated our nation Malaysia. I could
not help being humbled by what God has given to our nation, that it is a
beautiful country, in spite of the
spate of negative and discourag-
ing events happening, but the
nation is still a land with plentiful
natural resources, good infra-
structures, multicultural delicious
foods, a land of beauty, is truly a
blessed land. We had just returned from India, and still retained many
vivid memories and feelings. As we looked at the passing panoramic
views , we were greatly stirred. The streets of Chennai City were chaotic,
busy, and noisy with non-stop car horns, houses were dilapidated, cows
loitering and resting along the public roads……in comparison, Ipoh as a
medium size city is relatively orderly and clean, orderly flow of traffic,
surrounded by mountains and lakes, equipped with many shopping cen-
ters providing great convenience. I am very thankful to God for His con-
tinuing grace and mercy for our nation, that He continues to watch over
and bless Malaysia. That is the special mercy and grace of God.
Brothers and sisters, let us be reminded to keep on giving thanks to God
for our nation and intercede, look with the eyes of faith at God’s re-
demptive plan for our nation, because God is still reigning in Malaysia. ■
