Social Stories are a concept devised by Carol Gray in 1991 to improve the social skills of people with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Social stories are used to educate and as praise.

1. Select the target behavior you want to be the focus of the story.

2. Your first page should be the title with an appropriate picture.

3. The next pages will be the story script. The story should be written from the perspective of a child. Keep the wording simple and short (no more than two pages). You should use actual photographs of items, people, places from the child's life if possible. Complex ideas should be broken into smaller steps.

4. Add audio to the pages, narrating the social story.
