including more acute and specialised placements, ITU, A & E, operating theatres.

• Assessment methods include a written exam, a drug calculation exam, essays, poster presentation.

Includes: Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust (includes Barnet and Chase Farm sites), Whittington Health, North Middlesex University Trust, BMI Healthcare Hospitals, Moorfields and Stanmore Hospitals, Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust, Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust (includes Enfield Community Services), Camden Community, Haringey Community, St Ann's Hospital, St Pancras Hospitals.

Clinical Placements

• 50% of the course is spent in clinical practice, working shifts, providing care for patients & clients.

• Practice placements are arranged by the University to ensure students receive the best possible and varied clinical experience to enable students to become safe and confident practitioners.

• All students are allocated to a designated trained nurse who will be their practice mentor during their placement.

• The mentor will be responsible for teaching and assessing students, and providing feedback on performance.

Why do students struggle or leave?

• Unrealistic expectations of the programme (placements, shifts, travel, reality of dealing with patients).

!• Personal circumstances. !

• The discipline needed for self-directed study. !

• Not seeking support / discussing problems as they arise – self awareness is key. !

• Discontinued by us due to academic failure or attendance or a Fitness to Practice issue.
