Reasons for directing public aid to
nonpublic schools base Parents should have freedom of choice in the
education of their children at public expense.
There is no evidence to support the contentionthat divisiveness in education will be caused bythe existence and operation of non-publicschools.
The failure of non-public schools would have atremendous financial impact on publiceducation.

Govt to give private schools billions
to implement K-12 - DepEdThe government is going to spend between P13.2 to 19.8 billion in
taxpayer's money to send public school students to Grade 11 under theeducation departmentsK-12 program in 2016, a ranking education officialsaid.
This amount will double in 2017, when those in Grade 11 move on toGrade 12 and a new batch takes their place.
The funds will be disbursed via government vouchers payable todirectly to private schools offering K-12. Government schools do not offersenior high school.
Education Undersecretary Francisco Varela downplayed the seeminglyhuge sums, saying it would cost the same if the public school system were toimplement the senior high school component of K-12. And Varela, who is incharge of finance and administration, also pointed out that there would beless hassle by simply paying the private schools.
DepEd will release the monetary equivalent of the vouchers directly to
the private schools twice a year.
