The nervous system is responsible for coordinating the activity of the body.

The nervous system uses both external and internal sensory receptors.

Aphasia is a nervous condition whereby you are unable to communicate verbally or in writing due to a damage of the speech or language centers in the brain

-Algia-Algia is a the suffix that means pain

This is a very common suffix when talking about the nervous system.

Cephalagia for instance when broken down translates to -cephal/o: head and –algia: pain. This word therefore means headache

Divisions of the Nervous System

The nervous system is subdivided into the Central Nervous System (CNS) and the Peripheral Nervous System (PNS)

The Central Nervous System consist of the brain and the spinal cord

The Peripheral Nervous System are the cranial nerves and spinal nerves
