The Clinical Nurse Manager is responsible for Endoscopy, Ophthalmology and Plastic Surgery working across the Victoria Hospital and Queen Margaret Hospital sites. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced registered nurse to take on a leadership and managerial role as Lead Nurse for Community Nursing Services within Fife Health and Social Care Partnership West Division.

As well as the day to day management responsibility this role will provide professional leadership and direction to Community Nursing, Out of Hours/Evening Services, Community Based Treatment Room staff and other Community Based Services. In line with the Scottish Government recommendations for Transforming Nursing Roles the Lead Nurse will be expected to work in partnership to shape and develop District Nursing to take a key leadership role in Public Health; Anticipatory Care; Assessment; Care/Case Management; Complexity and Frailty; and Intermediate Care, Palliative and End of Life Care. You will also be expected through service redesign, to build and sustain Community Nursing Services in line with emerging Local and National service models.

You will also be expected to have a partnership role in supporting the developing work of Practice localities, clusters and community teams.

You will provide direct patient management in partnership with senior medical staff, have sound clinical knowledge and highly developed clinical decision-making skills in acute care. You should possess the ability to prioritise fluctuating workloads, work across professional boundaries and be flexible in an extremely busy environment. This post is 37.5hrs over 12 hour shifts.

You must be in possession of a minimum of a Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Practice. Possession of a Masters qualification or a willingness to work towards is desirable however, the ability to demonstrate Masters level thinking is essential.

The post is for 9 months initially to cover maternity leave. Some experience in caring for patients with respiratory disease is required but further training will be available.

The team currently cover hospital and community as well as running clinics and managing all Fife patients on home oxygen.

We are seeking a Health Protection Nurse to work within the Health Protection Team. You will be based in the Department of Public Health at Cameron House and work closely with Health Protection Nurse Specialists and Consultants in Public Health Medicine.

You must be on the General Nursing and Specialist Community Public Health Nurse parts of the NMC Register, have a relevant first level degree/post-registration qualification and be able to demonstrate evidence of further professional development. You must be willing to undergo further training to advance your skills and knowledge.

You must have extensive post-registration experience. Community experience, and practical experience in the field of Public Health Nursing/Infection Control is desirable and experience in communicable disease and TB control would be advantageous.

You must have good analytical, judgemental, communication and computer skills. Being able to travel efficiently throughout Fife, and work autonomously and in a team are essential. You should be self-motivated and innovative.

This temporary post which will be considered for a secondment will support the work of the discharge Hub at the Victoria Hospital. It involves comprehensive assessment and planning for patients who are in the Victoria Hospital and complex planning for their discharge. It involves daily involvement with all the wards at the Hospital and all partner agencies.

You will need to bring a wide range of experience from across Health and/or social care with a background in Nursing or AHP. An opportunity has arisen for a Primary Care Nurse within Fife Health and Social Care West Division who has specialist knowledge in Asthma and COPD management for both adult and paediatric patients. The post provides a respiratory service to patients registered with 6 GP Practices in Lochgelly, Benarty and Cardenden.

You will be responsible for the facilitation and delivery of evidence based care to this patient group, in partnership with the GP Practices. Care will be offered in both clinic and home settings within this area of Fife.

It would be expected that you will have relevant experience in this specialty and enhanced qualifications to support their application. In addition you shall have excellent communication and listening skills as well as excellent time management skills. Further to this it is a requirement that you must have a valid NMC registration.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to join the NHS Fife Research & Development Team as an independent nurse practitioner to assist in the efficient running of clinical research studies in accordance with GCP and Research Governance, support investigators to set up and undertake a range of research studies.

You will provide clinical advice regarding clinical research studies under the supervision of the R&D Lead Research Nurse and/or Principal Investigator. You will be a Registered Nurse with experience normally gained by having post registration experience or equivalent and have knowledge of research principles, including confidentiality, randomisation procedures, informed consent and ethical issues.

Attention to detail, strong organisational and communication skills, good IT skills and a methodical approach are key requirements, along with a proven ability to work as part of a team. Working as a theatre Reception / Recovery nursing Auxiliary is a varied and challenging post. This will provide an opportunity to assist theatre personnel in procedures relating to the safe transportation patients to and from theatre. The NHS Fife Intervention Project is a highly innovative 18 month programme to test a new approach to providing services in NHS Scotland hospitals for those patients who are homeless. The project will be managed by Shelter Scotland and is supported by a multi-agency Steering Group led by Fife Council Housing Services and the Fife Health and Social Care Partnership. The key aims of this project are to:

improve working links between health and housing services provide homeless individuals with the right support to improve their health outcomes reduce the re-admission rates among this cohort evaluate the preventative value of this approach in reducing pressures on NHS

Emergency Departments in Scotland.

The project will employ 2 staff and be run from Victoria NHS Hospital in Kirkcaldy, Fife. There will be close partnership working with hospital staff to engage patients who are identified as having insecure housing. Workers will follow a five-stage process to engage with the patient, undertake an immediate crisis response, work with them to identify key goals, put this into action focused on helping the person to develop skills and resilience, and finally support them to move on.

The project will focus on emergency admissions at VHK and Out of Hours. The target group will be individuals of any age and families who are homeless or at immediate risk of homelessness.  This project will be evaluated by Healthcare Improvement Scotland, who will work alongside the staff team in identifying outcomes and learning.

A key aim of this project is to share learning and build capacity with key stakeholders across Fife. Applications are thus being sought from staff in Fife Council Housing Services and NHS Fife who are interested in being seconded to staff the project. Key skills required include: needs assessment; experience of casework or care/support planning & delivery; experience of collaborative working. Candidates should be educated to Standard Grade (or equivalent) level or with relevant experience. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably skilled and experienced Occupational Therapist to join the adult mental health Occupational Therapy service in Fife. The postholder will work alongside other band 6 Occupational Therapists in the team and will be responsible for the day to day management of the adult mental health OT service. The team work with people who are experiencing mental health problems which is impacting on their occupational therapy performance and level of function.

The postholder will also be responsible for supporting the band 7 Head Occupational Therapist in developing the clinical pathways in line with local and national strategies and drivers. The postholder will also be responsible for a caseload of complex patients ensuring they receive specialist assessments from the National baseline assessment toolkit as well as evidence based interventions.

The postholder will be expected to work autonomously being able to manage and prioritise the many clinical and non clinical demands placed on them. This post, would suit newly qualified clinical or forensic psychologists, or more experienced psychologists who have additional clinical and professional competencies. As part of the Forensic Mental Health Team in Fife, you will be expected to provide a highly specialist clinical forensic service to adults who present with a history of offending behaviour and mental disorder. You would provide risk assessments and recommendations regarding risk management planning; specialist clinical assessment; psychological formulation based upon clinical and risk assessment to inform treatment planning; delivery of specialist psychological interventions appropriate to patient needs; joint working and specialist consultation to colleagues and other services (e.g. criminal justice social work, health, prison); and specialist opinions to Scottish Government, courts and mental health tribunals. This post is attached to the new low secure unit based at Stratheden Hospital, Cupar, though the post-holder will also liaise with colleagues in the community forensic team and will provide input as required to the Intensive Psychiatric Care Unit at Stratheden Hospital.

You will also take an active part in the Area Psychology Service, seeking opportunities for research, professional development and contributing to that of others. The post will be based at Stratheden Hospital.

This consultant post is based in North East Fife and will provide a comprehensive General Adult Psychiatry Service in the area.

The service includes inpatient beds in Lomond Ward, Stratheden Hospital with Outpatient Clinics held in St. Andrews Community Hospital and the East Neuk of Fife and various sites within the area. In Fife there is a consultant body of approximately 30 consultants meeting regularly at the Division of Psychiatry, with Specialists in Old Age Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatry, Learning Disabilities, CAMHS, Substance misuse and Eating Disorders. On call commitment for out of hours is shared between all Consultants, with the exception of CAMHS Consultants.

You will be supported by Junior Medical Staff from the South East Scotland rotational training scheme or General Practitioner Specialist Training Scheme and will be expected to take an active part in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. All Junior Medical Staff Posts in Fife are fully accredited by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

You should be a fully registered Medical Practitioner and must possess MRC Psych or equivalent qualification and the appropriate CCST (or be eligible for such inclusion within 6 months of the interview date). NHS Fife has a number of Family Friendly Policies.

We are looking for 2 additional Consultant Paediatricians to join our existing team in Fife delivering quality care to children and their families. These are full-time substantive appointments with clinical and managerial responsibilities primarily based in the Community Child Health (CCH).

You will join a close-knit team of paediatricians working across both acute (hospital-based) and community settings. The current general paediatric consultant team have special interests in allergy, child protection, diabetes, endocrinology, respiratory, gastroenterology, neurobehavioural paediatrics, rheumatology, neurology and cardiology. You will be encouraged to work closely with specialists in the regional centres, to contribute to audit and research on the unit and to further enhance and promote paediatric training in Fife. This post carries a mandatory on-call commitment to the acute paediatric rota. A separate neonatal rota is in place

The Paediatric and Child Health Services in Fife are delivered across a number of community settings and in a 24 bedded in-patient ward located in the recently built wing of the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy. A separate Children’s Out-Patient Department and Ambulatory Care Unit complete the services offered in the hospital. There are around 3000 medical paediatric admissions per annum. Additional out-patients services are offered at the Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline.

Applicants must be on the GMC’s Specialist Register or within six months of obtaining specialist registration at the time of interview. Non UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training. MRCPCH or equivalent is also essential.

Established specialist clinics include Paediatric Atopic Dermatitis, Contact Dermatitis, Hair and Nail disorders, Psoriasis, Transplant Surveillance and Genital Dermatoses, Additional Nurse led services include Skin Surgery, Isotretinoin monitoring, Iontophoresis, Cryotherapy and Chronic Skin Disease Management clinics. The department is supported by 5 speciality Doctor sessions and a Specialist Registrar from the Edinburgh rotation. Close working relationships exist with Maxillofacial Surgery and Plastic Surgery. Monthly meetings are held with the local Histopathologists. The department has strong links with the Academic Department of Dermatology in Edinburgh and the Research and Development Department in NHS Fife.

EXCITING SECONDMENT OPPORTUNITY

If you have well developed skills and experience in working with people who are experiencing homelessness, this could be an exciting career development opportunity for you to develop these skills within the community.

The NHS Fife Intervention Project is a highly innovative 18 month programme to test a new approach to providing services in NHS Scotland hospitals for those patients who are homeless. The project will be managed by Shelter Scotland and is supported by a multi-agency Steering Group led by Fife Council Housing Services and the Fife Health and Social Care Partnership. The key aims of this project are to:

improve working links between health and housing services provide homeless individuals with the right support to improve their health

outcomes reduce the re-admission rates among this cohort evaluate the preventative value of this approach in reducing pressures on

NHS Emergency Departments in Scotland.

The project will employ 2 staff and be run from Victoria NHS Hospital in Kirkcaldy, Fife. There will be close partnership working with hospital staff to engage patients who are identified as having insecure housing. Workers will follow a five-stage process to engage with the patient, undertake an immediate crisis response, work with them to identify key goals, put this into action focused on helping the person to develop skills and resilience, and finally support them to move on.

The project will focus on emergency admissions at VHK and Out of Hours. The target group will be individuals of any age and families who are homeless or at immediate risk of homelessness.  This project will be evaluated by Healthcare Improvement Scotland, who will work alongside the staff team in identifying outcomes and learning.

A key aim of this project is to share learning and build capacity with key stakeholders across Fife. Applications are thus being sought from staff in Fife Council Housing Services and NHS Fife who are interested in being seconded to staff the project. Key skills required include: needs assessment; experience of casework or care/support planning & delivery; experience of collaborative working. A significant programme of staff training and development will be a feature of this project.
