An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced registered nurse to take on a leadership and managerial role as Lead Nurse for Community Nursing Services within Fife Health and Social Care Partnership West Division.

As well as the day to day management responsibility this role will provide professional leadership and direction to Community Nursing, Out of Hours/Evening Services, Community Based Treatment Room staff and other Community Based Services. In line with the Scottish Government recommendations for Transforming Nursing Roles the Lead Nurse will be expected to work in partnership to shape and develop District Nursing to take a key leadership role in Public Health; Anticipatory Care; Assessment; Care/Case Management; Complexity and Frailty; and Intermediate Care, Palliative and End of Life Care. You will also be expected through service redesign, to build and sustain Community Nursing Services in line with emerging Local and National service models.

You will also be expected to have a partnership role in supporting the developing work of Practice localities, clusters and community teams.

We are looking to recruit two experienced Registered nurses to join our Orthopaedic advanced nurse practitioner (ANP) team, who are ready to embrace the challenge of this dynamic and challenging role. You will be an expert clinical practitioner responsible for

providing advanced clinical skills in our Orthopaedic unit (trauma and elective), enhancing care and improving patient flow in conjunction with national standards.

You will have experience in managing safe, effective treatment and care. This will involve working across professional and organisational boundaries in partnership with others including acute and primary care nursing and medical staff, allied health professionals and senior management teams. You will provide direct patient management in partnership with senior medical staff, have sound clinical knowledge and highly developed clinical decision-making skills in acute care. You should possess the ability to prioritise fluctuating workloads, work across professional boundaries and be flexible in an extremely busy environment. This post is 37.5hrs over 12 hour shifts.

You must be in possession of a minimum of a Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Practice. Possession of a Masters qualification or a willingness to work towards is desirable however, the ability to demonstrate Masters level thinking is essential.

Successful completion of this programme will enable you to register on the specialist part of the NMC register which is essential to being a health visitor. We are seeking a Health Protection Nurse to work within the Health Protection Team. You will be based in the Department of Public Health at Cameron House and work closely with Health Protection Nurse Specialists and Consultants in Public Health Medicine.

You must be on the General Nursing and Specialist Community Public Health Nurse parts of the NMC Register, have a relevant first level degree/post-registration qualification and be able to demonstrate evidence of further professional development. You must be willing to undergo further training to advance your skills and knowledge.

You must have extensive post-registration experience. Community experience, and practical experience in the field of Public Health Nursing/Infection Control is desirable and experience in communicable disease and TB control would be advantageous.

This temporary post which will be considered for a secondment will support the work of the discharge Hub at the Victoria Hospital. It involves comprehensive assessment and planning for patients who are in the Victoria Hospital and complex planning for their discharge. It involves daily involvement with all the wards at the Hospital and all partner agencies.

You will need to bring a wide range of experience from across Health and/or social care with a background in Nursing or AHP. This is a fast paced and exciting post working in a diverse and often changing environment. You will need to have both an organised and flexible approach to work in this post. A good team player who is confident in their role.

You will have a relevant qualification and experience in a relevant area. You will possess excellent communication and organisational skills; demonstrate evidence of effective multi-agency working; and be able to work on your own initiative, plan and manage own workload but also function well within a small team. An opportunity has arisen for a Primary Care Nurse within Fife Health and Social Care West Division who has specialist knowledge in Asthma and COPD management for both adult and paediatric patients. The post provides a respiratory service to patients registered with 6 GP Practices in Lochgelly, Benarty and Cardenden.

You will be responsible for the facilitation and delivery of evidence based care to this patient group, in partnership with the GP Practices. Care will be offered in both clinic and home settings within this area of Fife.

It would be expected that you will have relevant experience in this specialty and enhanced qualifications to support their application. In addition you shall have excellent communication and listening skills as well as excellent time management skills. Further to this it is a requirement that you must have a valid NMC registration.

Community experience is not essential as an induction to the area will be given. Non-medical prescribing is desirable but not essential to the post.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to join the NHS Fife Research & Development Team as an independent nurse practitioner to assist in the efficient running of clinical research studies in accordance with GCP and Research Governance, support investigators to set up and undertake a range of research studies.

You will provide clinical advice regarding clinical research studies under the supervision of the R&D Lead Research Nurse and/or Principal Investigator. You will be involved in the recruitment, education and monitoring of research participants and the collection and documentation of accurate data, working collaboratively with the wider multi-disciplinary team in the management of your own caseload of research patients.

The role involves working in collaboration with all members of the clinical research team and the wider multi-disciplinary team in the management of your own caseload of study patients and assisting in ensuring the effective running of research studies across all disease specialities on a day to day basis.

You will be a Registered Nurse with experience normally gained by having post registration experience or equivalent and have knowledge of research principles, including confidentiality, randomisation procedures, informed consent and ethical issues.

Attention to detail, strong organisational and communication skills, good IT skills and a methodical approach are key requirements, along with a proven ability to work as part of a team. As R&D Research Nurse you will and be based within the R&D Department, Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline with the requirement to regularly travel between all sites within NHS Fife.

The NHS Fife Intervention Project is a highly innovative 18 month programme to test a new approach to providing services in NHS Scotland hospitals for those patients who are homeless. The project will be managed by Shelter Scotland and is supported by a multi-agency Steering Group led by Fife Council Housing Services and the Fife Health and Social Care Partnership. The key aims of this project are to:

improve working links between health and housing services provide homeless individuals with the right support to improve their health outcomes reduce the re-admission rates among this cohort evaluate the preventative value of this approach in reducing pressures on NHS

Emergency Departments in Scotland.

The project will employ 2 staff and be run from Victoria NHS Hospital in Kirkcaldy, Fife. There will be close partnership working with hospital staff to engage patients who are identified as having insecure housing. Workers will follow a five-stage process to engage with the patient, undertake an immediate crisis response, work with them to identify key goals, put this into action focused on helping the person to develop skills and resilience, and finally support them to move on.

The project will focus on emergency admissions at VHK and Out of Hours. The target group will be individuals of any age and families who are homeless or at immediate risk of homelessness. This project will be evaluated by Healthcare Improvement Scotland, who will work alongside the staff team in identifying outcomes and learning.

A key aim of this project is to share learning and build capacity with key stakeholders across Fife. Applications are thus being sought from staff in Fife Council Housing Services and NHS Fife who are interested in being seconded to staff the project. Key skills required include: needs assessment; experience of casework or care/support planning & delivery; experience of collaborative working. This consultant post is based in North East Fife and will provide a comprehensive General Adult Psychiatry Service in the area.

The service includes inpatient beds in Lomond Ward, Stratheden Hospital with Outpatient Clinics held in St. Andrews Community Hospital and the East Neuk of Fife and various sites within the area. In Fife there is a consultant body of approximately 30 consultants meeting regularly at the Division of Psychiatry, with Specialists in Old Age Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatry, Learning Disabilities, CAMHS, Substance misuse and Eating Disorders. On call commitment for out of hours is shared between all Consultants, with the exception of CAMHS Consultants.

You will be supported by Junior Medical Staff from the South East Scotland rotational training scheme or General Practitioner Specialist Training Scheme and will be expected to take an active part in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. You will join a close-knit team of paediatricians working across both acute (hospital-based) and community settings. The current general paediatric consultant team have special interests in allergy, child protection, diabetes, endocrinology, respiratory, gastroenterology, neurobehavioural paediatrics, rheumatology, neurology and cardiology. You will be encouraged to work closely with specialists in the regional centres, to contribute to audit and research on the unit and to further enhance and promote paediatric training in Fife. This post carries a mandatory on-call commitment to the acute paediatric rota. A separate neonatal rota is in place

The Paediatric and Child Health Services in Fife are delivered across a number of community settings and in a 24 bedded in-patient ward located in the recently built wing of the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy. A separate Children’s Out-Patient Department and Ambulatory Care Unit complete the services offered in the hospital. There are around 3000 medical paediatric admissions per annum. Additional out-patients services are offered at the Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline.

Established specialist clinics include Paediatric Atopic Dermatitis, Contact Dermatitis, Hair and Nail disorders, Psoriasis, Transplant Surveillance and Genital Dermatoses, Additional Nurse led services include Skin Surgery, Isotretinoin monitoring, Iontophoresis, Cryotherapy and Chronic Skin Disease Management clinics. The department is supported by 5 speciality Doctor sessions and a Specialist Registrar from the Edinburgh rotation. Close working relationships exist with Maxillofacial Surgery and Plastic Surgery. The department has strong links with the Academic Department of Dermatology in Edinburgh and the Research and Development Department in NHS Fife.

EXCITING SECONDMENT OPPORTUNITY

If you have well developed skills and experience in working with people who are experiencing homelessness, this could be an exciting career development opportunity for you to develop these skills within the community.

The NHS Fife Intervention Project is a highly innovative 18 month programme to test a new approach to providing services in NHS Scotland hospitals for those patients who are homeless. The project will be managed by Shelter Scotland and is supported by a multi-agency Steering Group led by Fife Council Housing Services and the Fife Health and Social Care Partnership. The key aims of this project are to:

improve working links between health and housing services provide homeless individuals with the right support to improve their health

outcomes reduce the re-admission rates among this cohort evaluate the preventative value of this approach in reducing pressures on

NHS Emergency Departments in Scotland.

The project will employ 2 staff and be run from Victoria NHS Hospital in Kirkcaldy, Fife. There will be close partnership working with hospital staff to engage patients who are identified as having insecure housing. Workers will follow a five-stage process to engage with the patient, undertake an immediate crisis response, work with them to identify key goals, put this into action focused on helping the person to develop skills and resilience, and finally support them to move on.

The project will focus on emergency admissions at VHK and Out of Hours. The target group will be individuals of any age and families who are homeless or at immediate risk of homelessness. This project will be evaluated by Healthcare Improvement Scotland, who will work alongside the staff team in identifying outcomes and learning.

A key aim of this project is to share learning and build capacity with key stakeholders across Fife. Applications are thus being sought from staff in Fife Council Housing Services and NHS Fife who are interested in being seconded to staff the project. Key skills required include: needs assessment; experience of casework or care/support planning & delivery; experience of collaborative working. A significant programme of staff training and development will be a feature of this project.
