Court Judge Howard McClainrecently sentenced an Adelman to serve 10 years’ proba-tion and 15 weekends in theCook County Jail for pointinga gun at a man and threateningto shoot him in Lenox.

The defendant, Patrick Ed-ward Kalinowski, 31, of 704Pebblewood North, Apt. 4,Adel, or Hahira, gave an “Al-ford plea” under the First Of-fender Act to aggravatedassault. The defendant alsopled to terroristic threats andacts, pointing a gun at another,reckless conduct, and disor-derly conduct. Lenox PoliceMajor Brad Walls took thewarrants after the July 10,2014, incident that involvedKalinowski waving around aloaded handgun in the parkinglot of the Dollar General storeon North Goodman Street inSparks.

Judge McClain also sen-tenced the defendant to per-form 300 hours’ communityservice work; serve 180 daysin a probation detention center(suspended upon strict compli-ance with probation condi-tions); have no direct contactwith the victim; abide by a cur-few; complete anger manage-ment counseling; and write anapology letter through the Pro-bation Office to the victim. Thedefendant must pay a total of$3,355 for the fine, fees, andcourt costs.

Assistant District AttorneyKen Still prosecuted the case;Public Defender ChikezieNwakamma represented thedefendant.

Other recent court cases ofnote:

• In cases brought byAdel Police, Aldrick Pond, 28,of 1117 Michael Terrace, Adel,or Sparks pleaded guilty to ag-gravated assault (simple bat-tery count was dropped). JudgeMcClain sentenced Pond to 12

years’ probation; 100 hours’community service work; noviolent contact with victim;must complete domestic vio-lence program, obtain GED,and abide by curfew. Must pay$2,355.

According to warrants, onJune 29, 2014, Pond threw awoman to the floor and at-tempted to strangle her at theMichael Terrace address.

Pond also pleaded guilty tobattery, reduced from aggra-vated battery – 12 months’ pro-bation concurrent to othersentence, 20 hours’ communityservice work, no contact withvictim, must obtain GED, andpay $1,125.

Aggravated assault and sim-ple assault-family violencecharges were nolle prossed, ordropped. On June 28, 2014,Pond hit a man in the face witha shovel.

• In a case brought byAdel Police, Nekiesha AndreaColston of Boston, Ga.,pleaded guilty to possession ofa firearm by a convicted felon– Five years’ probation, 300hours’ community servicework, no contact victim, com-plete anger management, pay$2,730.

Warrants initially stated thaton April 14, 2015, Ms. Colstonfired three gunshot rounds at avictim. However, the Statenolle prossed, or dropped,

charges of aggravated assault,possession of a firearm duringthe commission of a felony,and disorderly conduct againstMs. Colston.

• Lynn Latrone Palmoreof Adel pleaded guilty to enter-ing auto with intent to commita theft and criminal trespass.Judge McClain sentenced Pal-more to five years’ probation;serve 170 to 180 days in a pro-bation detention center (creditfor time already served); payrestitution to be determined tothe City of Adel; perform 100hours’ community servicework; abide by curfew; andpay a total of $1,480.

The Adel Police Depart-ment brought the case. Accord-ing to the warrants, at about2:45 a.m. Jan. 16, 2016, Pal-more broke a window andkicked in the door at 404 N.Poplar St., property of the Cityof Adel.

The cost of damage was lessthan $500. Palmore also en-tered a 2004 Dodge Rampickup truck that is the prop-erty of the City of Adel. Theaccused did not remove any-thing from the vehicle.

• In a case brought byAdel Police, Kenise KeairraCarter of Adel pleaded guiltyto simple assault, family vio-lence (reduced from aggra-vated assault) – 12 months’probation, 40 hours’ commu-nity service work, no contactwith the victim or his immedi-ate family, $937.50; simplebattery, family violence – 12months’ probation consecutive,$342.50.

According to warrants, onAug. 26, 2015, at a Ben Street,Adel, address, Ms. Cartersmashed a glass globe (light

fixture) over a man’s head andstabbed him in the arm multi-ple times with a knife. TheState dropped charges of pos-session of a knife during thecommission of a felony andterroristic threats and acts.

• In a case brought bySparks Police, Miracle Alexan-dria Birdine of Sparks pleadedguilty to simple battery/familyviolence, reduced from aggra-vated assault/family violence –12 months’ probation, pay$1,437.50, $500 in restitutionto victim. According to war-rants, on May 24, 2014, the de-fendant threw a brick at a man;the brick hit him on the left earand his head.

• In a case brought byAdel Police, Demetrius Mon-tez Davis pleaded under theFirst Offender Act to terroristicthreats and acts and criminaltrespass – Three years’ proba-tion, anger management, resti-tution to be determined, 120hours’ community servicework, 90 days’ boot camp (sus-pended), no contact with vic-tim, anger managementcounseling, and pay $2,105.According to court records, onMay 5, 2015, Davis threatenedto assault a woman while kick-ing in the front door to a resi-dence.

• In a case brought bythe Cook County Sheriff’s Of-fice, Bobbie Jean Henley ofSparks pleaded guilty to pos-session of a firearm by a con-victed felon – Three years’probation, 80 hours’ commu-nity service, pay $1,355.

• In a case brought bythe Cook County Sheriff’s Of-fice, Eric L. Brantley of Val-dosta gave an “Alford” plea topossession of a controlled sub-

stance (“Molly” or Alpha-PVP) – Three years’ probation,120 hours’ community servicework, pay $2,605.

• In a case brought bythe Cook County Sheriff’s Of-fice, Jennifer Jill Peavy ofNashville pleaded guilty tocrossing jail guard lines withmethamphetamine and posses-sion of methamphetamine(tried to hide the drug in theback seat of a patrol car duringtransport by an officer on Oct.4, 2015) – Five years’ proba-tion, 240 hours’ communityservice work, complete treat-ment program and aftercare,pay $1,980.

• In a case brought bySparks Police, Corey AlanSumner of Sparks pleadedguilty to financial transactioncard fraud (three counts) –Total of six years’ probation(consecutive to current proba-tion case), pay total of $4,905,no contact with victim, 200hours’ community servicework, pay $1,056.50 in restitu-tion to victim through proba-tion office, serve 170 to 180days in probation detentioncenter (suspended upon strictcompliance with probationconditions), barred from Ala-paha Judicial Circuit includingCook County (suspended uponstrict compliance).

• Tommy Lee Robinsonof Forest Park, Ga., pleadedguilty to possession of cocaine,possession of tools for thecommission of a crime, andspeeding – Eight years’ totalprobation, 360 hours’ commu-nity service work, $3,242.50.

• The State nolleprossed, or dropped, charges ofcriminal damage to property,second degree, simple battery,

and criminal trespass againstcodefendants Melissa MarieCrum of Enigma and BradLewis Skinner of Nashville.The charges were droppedwith the condition of $1,000 inrestitution being paid to LenoxLand Ventures, Cranford Sum-ner Road, Lenox. Another co-defendant Felicia ShandaleOsteen paid $500 in restitution.

• In a case brought bythe Cook County Sheriff’s Of-fice, Lorenzo Robinson ofAdel pleaded guilty to bur-glary, second degree (twocounts) – Total of 10 years’probation, 80 hours’ commu-nity service work, no contactwith victims, enter treatmentand aftercare, pay $2,030 totalwith restitution to be deter-mined. On July 28, 2015,Robinson illegally entered tworesidences on Caulie HarrisRoad, Adel.

Robinson also pleadedguilty to theft by taking (stolewindow air conditioner units)– 12 months’ probation, 40hours’ community servicework, no contact with victim,fine suspended.

• Quintavious R. Kee-ley of Adel pleaded guilty topossession of marijuana – 12months’ probation, 180 hours’community service work, mustobtain GED, $2,425.

• Simple battery, simpleassault, and criminal trespasscharges against Savannah RoseBeal of Adel were nolleprossed, or dropped, due to de-ferred adjudication.

• Frank BenjaminBooker of Adel pleaded guiltyto battery – 12 months’ proba-tion, no violent contact withvictims, $585.

Adel man sentenced to jail time for aggravated assault

Anthwon Jeral Smith, 22,514 S. Elm St., Adel, was ar-rested Monday, Feb. 22, andcharged with terroristic threatsand acts (three counts), simplebattery against an officer (twocounts), obstruction of an offi-cer (two counts), loitering orprowling (two counts), andcriminal trespass (two counts),according to the Adel PoliceDepartment.

According to the warrants,at about 8:57 p.m. Sunday,Feb. 21, Smith was prowling ata Tony Street apartment. Smithallegedly damaged the frontdoor frame, the screen door

lock, and the living room win-dow screen by kicking andbeating the front door, pullingopen the locked screen door,and punching the living room

window and window screen.He also slashed the tires on awoman’s vehicle with a sharpobject.

Warrants state that Smithfled upon the appearance oflaw enforcement officers, whowere responding to a 911emergency call, and repeatedlyrefused to identify himself.Smith allegedly fought withtwo Adel Police officers as heattempted to resist apprehen-sion. Officer Joshua Weeks re-ceived a busted lip and severalminor cuts to his hands and fin-gers. Cpl. Jessica Shaffer re-ceived a jammed right index

finger and multiple scratchesand scrapes.

Warrants state that Smiththreatened to harm the femalevictim and the two police offi-cers upon his release from jail.

According to first appear-ance records in Cook CountyMagistrate Court, Smith hadcompleted school through the12th grade, had resided 22years at his current address,and was employed. On Thurs-day, Feb. 24, Chief MagistrateJudge Melvin Simmons set a$31,000 property bond forSmith’s release from the CookCounty Jail.

• Tiffany Paige Delk, 22,5911 Judson St., Adel, was ar-rested March 5 by the GeorgiaState Patrol and charged withpossession of a Schedule I con-trolled substance, crossing jailguard lines with contraband,DUI of drugs, driving too fastfor conditions, new residentmust register in Georgia within30 days, failure to maintainlane, possession of marijuana,and driver must apply for anew license within 60 days ofa change of name or address.

• Jacob Edward Sanders, 24,Stone Mountain, was arrestedMarch 6 by the Cook CountySheriff’s Office and holdplaced for Dekalb County.

• Ismail Alghmadi, 29,Muncie, IN, was arrestedMarch 6 by the Cook CountySheriff’s Office and chargedwith speeding, improper childrestraint, and alteration of li-cense plate or improperlytransferred plate. Releasedsame date on a $705 propertybond.

• Bryant Cuthbert Harrell,50, 192 Cook County LineRoad, Lenox, was arrestedMarch 6 by the Cook CountySheriff’s Office and chargedwith terroristic threats and actsand disorderly conduct.

• Samuel F. Nguyen, 18,Irondale, Ala., was arrestedMarch 7 by Adel Police andcharged with speeding, failureto maintain lane, and drivingwhile license suspended.

• Joseph Chason, 18, RayCity, was arrested March 7 bythe Georgia State Patrol andcharged with possession of al-cohol by a minor, possession ofan open alcohol container, de-fective tires, DUI of alcohol,and speeding.

• Roger Dale Collins, 29,360 Adams St., Sparks, was ar-rested March 7 by Sparks Po-lice for probation violation –felony.Bonds Posted

• Cameron Vandergrift, ar-rested Feb. 28 and chargedwith possession of marijuanaand possession of drug-related

objects, was released March 3on a $4,000 property bond.

• Divonte Neal, arrestedFeb. 28 and charged with pos-session of drug-related objects,possession of marijuana, ille-gal stop, standing, or parking,and speeding, was releasedMarch 2 on a $2,230 bond.

• Devon Lane Carter, ar-rested Feb. 28 and chargedwith possession of marijuana,possession of drug-related ob-jects, and speeding, was re-leased March 1 on a $2,053bond.

• Devin Welter, arrestedFeb. 28 and charged with pos-session of marijuana and pos-session of drug-related objects,was released Feb. 29 on a$1,868 bond.

• Eddie James Coxfield, ar-rested March 1 and chargedwith theft by receiving stolenproperty, was released March 2on a $1,520 property bond.

• Corey Daniel Harris, ar-rested Feb. 28 and chargeddriving while license sus-pended, was released Feb. 29on a $1,500 bond.
