McKenneys overcame obstacles to install a process chiller and industrial package cooling unit at a packaging manufacturing plant.
THE CHALLENGEThe manufacturers cooling system was no longer reliable. At the worksite, there was not reasonable access to the plants rooftop to install the new air handling unit (AHU) and chiller on the side of the building. Also, careful
coordination was needed to install the package unit and chiller simultaneouslywith the plants production levels dependent on chilled water.
THE SOLUTIONTo gain access to the rooftop, the McKenneys team coordinated with a neighboring facility and a local crane company to position a crane on the neighboring property. To install the chiller, McKenneys met the customers last-minute request to reconfigure the piping necessary
for other long-term maintenance and opera-tion goals. Then, the team shut down the system during a short 36-hour window to quickly disconnect and reconnect piping without significantly disrupting production.
THE RESULTSBy leveraging its design/build expertise and coordination skills, McKenneys completed the installation on time and under budget while exceeding the customers expectations.
