WHAT IS AN ACTIVE RELIGIOUS WOMEN’S ORDER?
• Active orders are those who have direct contact with society.
• They pray and socially interact with the community.
• Examples: teaching, missionary work, and preaching
• These active orders have made a great impact in the world today. They are very respected and set an example for everyone.

FELICIAN SISTERS
• The Felician Sisters were founded in Warsaw, Poland in 1855 by Sophia Truszkowska who later became Mother Mary Angela Truszkowska.
• The mission of the sisters is to follow God’s call to work with Christ in spiritually renewing the world.
• The sisters can be identified by what they wear: brown habits, scapulars, brown and beige clothing, and the Felician wooden crucifix. Also, they live in convents.
• They participate in daily prayer and receiving of the Eucharist.
• Their ministry includes teaching, health care, social work, and campus ministry.
• They number over 900 members throughout the U.S., Poland, and Brazil.
• Mother Truszkowska was declared blessed in 1993 by Pope John Paul II.

PROCESS TO JOIN THE FELICIANS
1. Affiliation: living normal life while staying in contact with a sister to help discern
2. Postulancy: reside in the community , and participate in religious life
3. Novitiate: focus on prayer life, and learn the vows and rules
4. Temporary Vows: continue developing spiritual life
5. Perpetual Vows: choose to make full commitment to God and the Felician community

SISTERS OF THE HOLY CROSS
• The Sisters of the Holy Cross were founded in France on February 11, 1799, by Basil Anthony Moreau.
• The mission of the sisters is to raise awareness about justice issues.
• They examine the interconnections among theological issues.
• The sisters wear a black habit, black and white clothing, and a necklace in the shape of a heart with a cross.
• The sisters are located in many countries including Austria, Germany, Brazil, Mexico, India, and the United States.
• Basil was declared blessed on September 15, 2007.

SISTERS OF THE HOLY CROSS
• The sisters have love and adoration for God, by doing deeds and praying.
• They have a love for the cross and following the call of God.
• They have an intimate love for Mary and the holy angels.
• They are in charge of running Saint Mary’s College, an all girls Catholic university, in Notre Dame, Indiana.
