CHILD CARE SUBSIDY OF PEEL REGION
Child care fee subsidy is a program that helps qualifying families cover the cost of licensed child care for children up to the age of 12.
Subsidised care may be available in over 450 other centres and home-based child care programs. To see which centre is closest to you, please see the attached link: http://www.peelregion.ca/children/programs/subsidy/pdf/agency-list.pdf
Subsidy is available in a variety of child care settings. You choose the type of care you want for your child, either in a licensed day care centre or with a home child care provider through a licensed home child care agency.
Over 450 child care programs have subsidy agreements with the Region of Peel. It's a good idea to visit several child care centres and home child care agencies in your area to help you choose which program is best for your child.
Make a list of programs that meet the age(s) of your child(ren) and the hours of care you need. Some centres require you to register with them directly in order for your name to be placed on their waiting list. This is important as some centres have long waiting lists.
To be eligible for the child care subsidy, you must be:

CANADIAN TIRE JUMPSTART
Canadian Tire Jumpstart is a nationally registered charity
dedicated to removing financial barriers so kids across
Canada have the opportunity to get off the sidelines and into
the game.
Whether it’s the chance to try a sport for the very first time or
to continue with a favourite physical activity, Jumpstart
makes it possible for all kids to participate. We see it as
equipping kids for life because quality physical activity in kids
does more than improve health and well-being. It helps build
confidence, leadership, productivity and creativity.
Jumpstart helps kids between the ages of 4 to 18 by assisting
with the costs associated with registration, equipment and/or
transportation for sports and physical activity programming.
Jumpstart has a unique charity model that involves working
with an extensive network of 330 local Jumpstart Chapters in
communities across Canada. Chapter members are
volunteers and community leaders who are committed to
helping get kids active and healthy. These Chapters work
collectively with over 3,100 Jumpstart Community Partners
across the country such as the local Municipal Parks and
Recreation department, the local Boys and Girls Club and the
YMCA/YWCA to help them submit applications for Jumpstart
funding as well as identify kids from financially disadvantaged
families who would benefit from participating in sports and
physical activity programming. These Chapters and
Community Partners play a key role in making Jumpstart
successful and this model helps us ensure that the funds are
directed to those who need it most.
Applications for assistance can typically be submitted from January 15 to November 1, (varies by Chapter) with the goal to be equitably distributed over Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter activities. The funding is distributed with a focus on maximizing the cost and length of participation per activity per child.

JERRY LOVE CHILDREN’S FUND
Administered by Mississauga Recreation & Parks, the Jerry
Love fund raises thousands of dollars each year to help
hundreds of children enjoy the benefits of participating in
recreation programs.
The funds are raised through the support of individuals, city
staff, local business, service clubs, community groups, and
other funding bodies such as the Toronto Star Fresh Air
Fund.
Only Children's recreation programs that are operated by the Recreation Division are eligible for subsidy. The subsidization program is restricted to residents of Mississauga 15 years of age and under. Subsidy does not apply to H3O, Semi Private or Private Lessons. Eligible children may receive a subsidy for 1 course code per calendar year, or a 1 or 3 month Swim/Skate Pass. The maximum amount of subsidy for any program or session is $160. Since funds are limited, the agency or parent/guardian will be required to pay the difference for any program exceeding the $160 maximum. Subsidy does not include extra costs associated with program. Applicants in receipt of the Jerry Love Children's Fund cannot receive benefits from the ActiveAssist fee assistance program in the same calendar year.
The child's school social worker or a social worker from a
Community Agency can assess the family situation, and if
they qualify, will fill out a "Jerry Love Referral for Subsidy"
form, which then must be attached to a completed
Registration Application Form. The Referral form is to be
completed by the Social Worker for the client. If an
additional payment is to be made by the parent/guardian or
agency, then it must be submitted with these forms, or placed
on the Family Account at any Mississauga Community
Centre; registrations will not be processed until additional
payment is received.

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Peel Region
shares with its national parent organization,
the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada, a set

communities to support the health and
aspirations of children and youth. This
category includes programs that foster
positive family communication, involvement
and support. They help families connect
with broader social networks and those that
work with neighbourhoods, communities
and levels of government to ensure that
children and youth have the resources they
need. These include special events (talent
shows, sporting events, community
playground builds and family dinner nights);
workshops and activities focused on
problem solving, communication, stress and
anger management; and parent-child
education programs and workshops through
health services or family service agencies.
The programs offered by the Boys and Girls
Clubs of Peel Region are relevant and
accessible to all children and youth
regardless of socio-economic status.
Boys and Girls Club programs are
developed in response to the local needs of
children, youth and families in communities
across Peel Region.
