HOW WE CAN HELP YOUQ: I am trying to provide care and services for my parent who still lives in their home. Are services available that

could step in when I cannot be there or to give me an occasional break?A: Yes. A licensed non-medical in-home care agency can provide companionship, light housekeeping, meal prep,

transportation and more. Agencies are bonded and insured. There are also Douglas County directed services and benefits that provide these services, giving you the support you need so you can continue to be a healthy and involved care provider.

Q: I recently moved to Highlands Ranch and want to remain active, make new friends and even take classes. What is available to me and where do I find the information?

A: The Metro District’s Active Adult Programs & Services (AAPS) provides a variety of outdoor activities, educational/lifelong learning and social opportunities to help meet new people and feel connected in the community. Visit highlandsranch.org/signmeup and click on the Active Adults (Seniors) box. AAPS coordinator Jodie McCann, can direct you to local classes. They can also be found on the AAPS Events page at highlandsranch.org/aaps.

Q: I need a ride to the doctor and grocery store. Is there transportation available to me?A: Yes. There are several private and county-directed services that can help with transportation needs. Visit

agingresourcesdougco.org to learn more.

Q: It is getting more difficult to stay in my home. Should I move? How do I know where to begin looking for other housing and/or care options?

A: There are many options available to you, including bringing services to you and into your home, making home modifications for safety and greater independence, or identifying a new type of home or senior living community. We can help you find contacts for these services and more.
