The Club for UNESCO of Pireaus & Islands has created a permanent solution for dealing with immediate poverty within the municipalities of Keratsini-Drapetsona-Perama, Pireaus, Nikaia – A.I. Rentis, and Korinthos by providing a multitiude of

social services within our four locations. These free social services are restaurant, a grocery program, consultation office,

common area, dormitory, pharmacy, service exchange and vegetable garden.

’’Our network is one of the most modern and efficient in Europe, manned by a young and skilled scientific and assisting staff devoted to our work and volunteering. The staff payroll has been ensured by ESPA for 2 years, as well as the buildings and ultramodern equipment, mostly provided by sponsors such as Greek entrepreneurs and citizens.

With the slogan “Not a single citizen without food, not a single child without our care,” The Club for UNESCO of Piraeus & Islands has created a powerful network of social services, which provide the opportunity for equal and fair access of basic needs to all citizens, especially those suffering from poverty and social exclusion. We provide services such as housing, primary health care and food.

One hug for every child

On a daily basis, each restaurant offers warm, fresh food to 150 families. The gro-cery program serves 500 families each month, many of them children, granting them food and clothes. The common areas provide help and warmth to 400 people each day. Our fellow citizens have the opportunity to take a shower, wash their clothes, rest, get warm and receive medicine for free from our medical and nursing staff.

Children’s basic needs and overall happiness are of extremely to our club. This is why we have created special areas in all of our centers for children such as chil-dren’s playrooms, libraries, clothing rooms, and art rooms.

We rely on each one of you to support and equip our social centers with supplies and essentials. You can inform those who need to visit our centres, to talk to our social workers and learn how they can benefit from our services and join the program.

Municipalities

The social service centers are also places for culture and education, where several educational courses and creative workshops are held for children as well as adults. These centers also offer a range of cultural and entertainment activities, such as art exhibitions, music and theatrical performances and dances for our citizens who come for help and support.
