HISTORY OF AGORA CLUB INTERNATIONAL
In 1987 a group of former members of Ladies’ Circle created the first Agora club in Lille,
France. In 1988 the French National Board was founded. In 1993 the first club in the
Netherlands started, followed by Agora Club Belgium the year after. In June 1996, the first
Annual International Council took place in Strasbourg, France.
In honour of the founding country, the French motto was adopted as the official international
motto: “Donner et Tolérer”, which means “Service and Tolerance” in English.
The strength of Agora Club was the fact, that from the beginning it was a past-Circle service club,
which was moreover also open to non-Past-Circle friends and women from diverse horizons. The
fact that it offered an international platform to its members, thus ensuring continuation of
friendships made in Ladies’Circle, proved to be very important to our members, too.
In 2009 Agora Club opened up to Tangent Club, and welcomed Tangent Club Germany as an
Agora member country in the same year.
Today Agora Club International has clubs in Austria, Belgium, Botswana, France, Germany,
Iceland, Israel, Italy, Madagascar, Malta, Morocco, Norway, Romania, South Africa, Switzerland,
The Netherlands, UK, USA, Zambia, with Zimbabwe and Luxembourg being chartered in March
and June 2019 respectively

ACI ISP : "Eyes for the World" During the ACI Conference in 2015 in Brasov/Romania the delegates (the assembly) decided for an own Agora Club International Service Project (ACI ISP) which is EYES FOR THE WORLD. „Everybody, all over the world, has the right to good eye-sight“ It is a live changing project which helps children in less privileged areas to better eye-sight, with self-adjustable spectacles. This project has proven to make a big difference in children’s lives in South Africa in a flagship combined project between AC Lokeren (Belgium) and AC Amarula (South Africa). INTERNATIONAL SERVICE PROJECTS In addition, Agora Club International continues to support the Service Projects of Ladies‘ Circle International in the „Side by Side“ spirit. Thus, together with LCI, we have been engaging in the Service „Happy Heart“ for the period of 2017-2019.
LCI ISP 2017-2019: HAPPY HEART
For the period 2017 - 2019, Ladies Circle International will support the ‘Happy Hearts’ project in Botswana. The project seeks to raise funds to build an interim home. The home will accommo-date children undergoing treatment at Princess Marina Hospital in Gaborone and their caregiv-ers. The home intends to cater for those patients that live far from the treatment centre. Ladies Circle Botswana has partnered with the Cancer Association of Botswana; an organization dedi-cated to supporting and caring for the sufferers and survivors of cancer and recognizes the lack
of such a facility for children in the country.
The mission of Happy Hearts is to provide temporary accommodation for childhood cancer pa-tients and their care givers from remote areas who have to undergo cancer treatment in Gabo-rone.
After its completion, the plan is that home will further provide a range of services to address patients' physical, psychological, social and educational needs.
Objectives:
• To offer a dignified home away from home accommodation for patients during their treatment
period and avoid exposure to further side effects and risks. • To provide an alternative place that will help ease the financial and emotional problems and
relieve the stress of logistics, allowing caregivers to focus on giving moral support to their chil-dren
• To provide an environment that will support and mitigate against psychosocial burdens for the patient and caregivers and equip them with better copying skills.

2015-2017: • Ensures that 3 girls at LittleBigHelp Girls’ Home receive a full day of meals (4 meals per day - breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner) / Pays for 10 large lunch meals at LittleBigHelp’s Girls’ Home • Covers the expenses for 2 girls from the Girls’ Home to go on a monthly outing and have fun at the cinema, zoo, museum, circus etc. • Covers the monthly expenses of school equip-ment (books, pencils, workbooks) for all the girls in LittleBigHelp Girls’ Home • Ensures that all girls from LittleBigHelp Girls’ Home are taken safely to and from school by bus for an entire month • Ensures that 2 girls from Girls’ Home get their weekly check-up by the doctor (weekly check-ups are necessary because of the background the girls come from - many have skin diseases, are underweight or have other health issues when they join Girls’ Home)
2013 – 2015 “Children of the dump” was founded in 2004 to change the lives of hundreds of children, living on the dumps of Stung Meanchy, Cambodia. With the help of funding, the NGO will help the local “Center for Children’s Happiness” to provide these chil-dren with a home and decent meals, and offer them the chance to go to school and study. A new wing is planned in the CCH, aimed to provide su-pervised independent living, preparing the children to make their way back into society.
2011 - 2013 The ACI members voted to continue to support the ISP’s of LCI. The service project of 2011-2013 is “Viva con Agua”, an organization which aim it is to ensure a better access to clean water, particularly for people in very arid areas around the world. Water is one essential source of our life and the access to clean water is crucial for the survival of every human being.
2009 - 2011 Agora Club International contributed for the first time to the 2 yearly international service projects of our sister club Ladies’Circle International. A very valuable project to “End Child prostitution, Child Pornography and Child Trafficking of Children for sexual Purposes”. The money for the financial support of Agora Club International Service Projects is derived from the proceeds of the tombola during the ACI Conferences, the sale of the International President’s pin, and from projects which are organized specifically for the ISP, by our full and associate mem-ber countries, countries in formation and local member clubs.

COMMON INTERNATIONAL SERVICE PROJECTS In the past ACI decided to support projects within the Round Table Family.
2018 When we saw that RT was appealing for funds to help the Kerala flood victims,
the Board felt that it was a very good cause and decided to donate €1000 from
our Emergency Fund which is generated from the sale of pins.
2016 – 2017 After the earthquake in Italy at Aquarta, Agora Club International decided to help the people who are needed through Italia Round Table Family.
2014 - 2016 Through the Round Table Family we have joined the “All4Nepal” campaign with a first time global commitment with the 6 organizations making a difference in the epicentric area in Nepal. You can still visit the website ALL4Nepal and make donations: www.all4nepal.org
2009 - 2010 Agora Club International contributed to the international service project of “4 Clubs 1Vision” (RTI, LCI, ACI and 41 Intl) in the earthquake struck town of’ Onna in Italy, where our 4 Clubs “4Clubs-1Mission” built a new Center for young people, after the terrible earthquake in the re-gion of Abruzzo.

Round Table International: We believe in bringing about change and excellence in ourselves and our com-
munity. Our motto is Adopt, Adapt, Improve and we bring young men between 18-40 years of age together, to challenge, inspire and learn from each other. We share ideas openly with trust, and empower each individual to make a positive im-pact at home, work and in his community. We call it Tabling and we do this locally where we meet regularly. We plan and or-ganize meetings and events for ourselves and others that focus on personal develop-ment, fun & fellowship and community service. Together we form an international
network of bright young men. We are Round Table. One World, One Table.
Ladies Circle International: Ladies’ Circle is open to all women between the ages of 18 and 45. The motto
of LCI is Friendship & Service’. Friendship may be experienced, locally, nationally and internationally. It is a re-markable experience sharing a bond with ladies from different parts of the globe, different cultures, different upbringing
Service Every Circler endeavours to make a difference to those less fortunate than
them by supporting community projects and raising funds for the needy, locally
and nationally. Globally Circlers also support an International Service Project which
runs for two years.
AGORA Club International is a club for women from the age of 42 years (Non Ex-Circlers), 45 years (Ex-Circlers), and older with different professions, hobbies and interests.
The Motto is “Donner et Tolérer” which means “Service and Tolerance” in English. We are a platform where all Ex-Circlers (being members of AGORA and TANGENT) and other Non Ex-Circler friends from diverse horizons can
meet.
41 Club is the more commonly used and shorter name for The Association of Ex-Round Tablers‘ Clubs a
social networking organisation for men aged over 40 who are also former members of Round Table. Thus, 41 Club forms part of the Round Table Family of clubs, together with Round Table, Ladies Circle, Agora and Tangent. 41 Club is an organisation which further develops the friendship and comradeship which the members enjoyed when they were members of Round Table.
Tangent Club International is a club only for ex-circlers after 45 years old. Their Motto is “Let Friendship continue”
