Introduction to ACM Access Control Manager ACM Access Control Manager is a new software from ACM. ACM is a leader in designing and manufacturing cost effective and highly reliable Access Control Systems, with over than 10 years experience in the cards and smart cards business, ACM provides the most cost effective solution on Access Control System, Time & Attendance system, and Smart Card system. The software enables you to define the specific time and entries for the personnel accessibility. The system have an on line facility that enables you to control and verify with the employee's photo if the permitted cardholder is the one using it. The ACM can work as an off-line system as well. The large variety of reports and the report generator gives you the facility and the tool to analyze your database as your needs require. ACM Access Control Manager is a powerful tool which enables you to limit and control access to your work area; to see-in real time-exactly where any given employee is located; and to produce custom reports on employee location and movement, for the purposes of security or payroll calculations. Each employee or visitor is issued with a card (e.g proximity or smart card), which must be presented through the reader to gain entry or exit. ACM controller checks the Cardholder's status before granting access, as well as recording every valid or invalid transaction. ACM lets you group doors and Cardholders in a variety of different ways to suit your specific Reporting and Security needs. The Supervisor sees a constantly updating, Online summary of all events, and can follow the paths of specific Cardholders or see who is at a given location, at will. ACM can also alert the Supervisor to special-user-defined-situations, with an alarm and/or a color sequence. The Offline facility enables you to print custom Reports of all transactions, or specific types of transactions, between any given dates and times. The ACM works under Windows 98, 2000, XP or NT OS. The system requires at least one Controller and one Reader. Computer Requirements

6. type your name and company name then click “Next” 7. follow the system instructions 8. a folder name ACM will be created in C:\Program Files 9. Unzip 2nd_unzip_ACMProgramPatch.zip to C:\ ACMBDE The Database ACM use Paradox database engine, therefore tables can be used by other applications. Paradox is a database format developed by Borland Int'l Inc. These files normally carry the extension ‘.db’ . Reporting Use ACM’s Report options to print Transactions you want from those records save in database. Security and Safety Features Define exactly how much access for each User is allowed, any time, any where, and how to go. Languages Select Languages other than English are specified in General Parameters screen as My Language and Other Language. This way it is more general and the specific language name can be specified in the message translation table. Photo The Photo Path specified in the area is to store the cardholder photo. When defining a new employee there will be an automatic search for a jpg or bmp file in that directory and the photo will popup. The best image size is 109 (w) x 129 (h) pixels. The dpi scale is better to be lower because large file require more time to load and this will affect the time delay during real time monitoring.



Audit Trail The system will log any action you make inside ACM program, an log file name acm.log will be store inside C:\ ACMBDE. There are many log action, please refer to the following table. 1. System Setup The setup module contains 8 folders for setting up your ACM Access Control System. Use the pull down manual and/or speed buttons at the top of software to access each detail setup.

Hardware Time Zone Time Table Security Group Card List Department Holiday Communication Events Alarm Relay

Hardware Setup ACM software uses the ID to identify different doors connected to the same controller. The ID must be a unique number between 1 and 255 for Access Controllers, between 1 and 4 for doors. The Name field is a label intended to help you identify the controllers and doors. ACM software uses only the ID and the name does not affect ACM operation.

If you have model ACI206 or ACI306, you may enable desktop reader by select the icon. This can help you to read your card when cursor located at card field when add / edit / search card. This folder defines how each door operates. The Controller List on the left side contains a list



of controller connected to the ACM system. The door List on the Right side contains a list of doors connected to the currently selected controller. Controller List ACM software uses the ID to identify different controllers connected to the same communication port. The ID must be a number between 1 and 255, which is unique to the communication port to which it is connected. To add a controller, click on the New button, enter a unique ID and replace default definitions as necessary. To edit a controller, select the desired controller and click on the Edit button, then make the desired changes. You can also double click on the controller definition line to open its edit menu directly. To delete a controller unit, select the desired controller and click on the Delete Controller button.

Controller ID – Set to 1 for first Controller Name – Name of the Controller (Just reference) Controller SN – The serial number of this controller Enable Panic PIN – When you see online monitoring you can see “Panic” Event if you use CARD+PIN mode by key in the panic PIN, the security guard will know you are forced to



enter the door. Allow any card to All doors under this controller – when you select this the controller will not check the card list, all card

Modem – select this for Modem connection Com Port – select this for direct RS232/RS485 connection, the com port you are using to connect this controller TCP/IP – select this for TCP/IP connection, key in the IP for that network module. Ask you supplier for details. This is not supposed to change by end user.



Enable Anti Pass Back – Click this if you want to use Anti Pass Back - Anti Pass Back will only be supplied separately order Enter the logic flow of your anti pass back setting

Summer/Winter Time – Enter your local summer / winter time setting



Anti-Pass-Back Setup When you need to setup Anti-Pass-Back, make sure you have the concept about APB before setup this section. If you are not sure, consult your System Integrator. Below is an example for 2 doors office with one main entrance door and one computer room inside the office. Below is the setup in ACM software

Door List This contains a display of definitions specific to individual doors. The definitions are added and edited in the Door Definition screen.

To add a door, click on the New door button, enter an unique ID and replace default definitions as necessary. To edit a door, select the desired door, click on the Edit door button and make the desired changes. You can also double click on the door definition line to open it's edit menu directly. To delete a door, select the desired slave and click on the Delete Access button. ID – Set to 1 for first door Name – Name of the Door eg. Main Door Door Open Time - defines the amount of time for which the door lock relay is active. This

time is defined in units of second. Alarm - defines the amount of time that the Door Monitor sensor allows the door to remain

open after the Door Opening Time has been completed. If the door remains open after this time, an alert is transmitted to the ACM software.



Disable PIN Time Table – this is to setup a specific time zone which do not need to enter PIN after presenting card.

Force Door Open Time Table – this is to force the door relay active during that time table. Force Door Close Time Table – this is to force the door relay not to active during that time table, even a valid card was read. Enable Door PIN – select this to enable door pin feature

Door PIN – input the door pin 4-10 digits Remark : use * door PIN # to open door

Door PIN enable time table – only this time period can be used door PIN feature. Support Emergency Card – select this to enable door pin feature Time Zone Setup

Time zone means system will restrict the entrance of card holders with entrance restriction in a day. System default sets no restriction period for entrance. If you need to set time zone control for a card holder, you need to set time zone, time table and holiday setting.

One controller contains 32 time zones at most, max. 287 time zone details for each time zone.

How to create a new Time Zone 1. Click on the New button and enter a name for the Time Zone. 2. Define the time range.



How to edit an existing Time Zone 1. Select the Time Zone from the Time Zone List on the left, and click on the Edit Time

Zone button. 2. Make the desired changes. define the time range. How to delete a Time Zone 1. Select the Time Zone. 2. Click on the Delete Time Zone button. Time Table Setup

1. Time table setting is based on the foundation of time zone setting. The timetable

includes time setting from Monday to Sunday, holiday and one day before holiday setting.

2. Each controller can include max. 32 timetables. 3. To set timetable, just click the corresponding field form “Sunday” to “Saturday”,

“Holiday type 1”. Then select the desired time zone’s name. 4. Controller will execute the time zone control as set in the timetable for specified card

holder(s). System will execute time zone restriction according to the timetables in corresponding day of week



Security Group Setup A Security Group contains one or more doors where access is defined. Only ONE Time Table must be defined for each door.

You may add the door access right to a specific group, select the timetable that belongs to this group, and then select to enable PIN and Holiday. How to create a new Security Group 1. Click on the New Group button and enter a name for the Security Group. 2. Add and define new lines. 3. Click on the Save button. How to edit an existing Security Group 1. Select the Security Group and click on the Edit Group button, or double-click on the

Security Group. 2. Add, delete or edit lines. How to delete a Security Group 1. Select the Security Group. 2. Click on the Delete Group button. How to add a new line to a Security group 1. Click on the New Line button. 2. Select a door. 3. Select a Time Zone. How to edit a Security group line 1. Select the line to be edited. 2. Change the door or Time Zone selection.



How to delete a line from a Security group 1. Select the line to be deleted 2. Click on the Delete Line button. Card + PIN Setup

Password control only can apply to the Keypad reader. When password control execute, system requires you to key in a 4 digit password. Normal readers do not support this function. The system use a timezone period to control the door NO NEED to use PIN. For example an office hour (9:00 – 6:00) In order to setup the timezone, first you need to think WHEN you DO NOT NEED to enter PIN after scanning a card. The most simple is to use PIN for 24 hours (all day). 1. Now check if you have a timezone “No Time”. Timezone “No Time” means from

00:00 to 00:00. 2. Now check TimeTable if you have a TimeTable “No Time”, that mean from Sunday to

Saturday and Holiday with a Timezone “No Time”, this mean 7 x 24 hours with 00:00 to 00:00.

3. Now go to the door setup that you would like to have Card + PIN, select “No Time” for “PIN disable time table”. PIN disable timezone means during that time zone you do not need entry PIN.

4. Now go to Security group to select which group of person you need them to enter PIN



for the specific time period. You may select some or all door for that security group for PIN (set it to True)

5. Now go to Communication menu, select Configuration and Security group and send

click “Send” button to update the setting to Master Controller



Card List Setup This is a database of employees, visitors and other personnel who may be issued cards. It contains a photograph and Sort by selector on the right.

Buttons definitions: New – Create a new cardholder. Edit – Edit the selected cardholder. Delete – Delete the selected cardholder. Send This – Send the selected record to controller(s). Import – Import the card list from CSV file. Export – Export the card list to CSV file. Report – Show the card list report. Remove All – Remove all cardholder from controller(s) and software. First IN / Last Out Report – Print current staff First IN / Last Out Report How to create a new Personnel database record 1. Click on the ‘New’ button. 2. Enter a card number. 3. Enter the name, Staff No. of the individual to whom the card is being issued.



4. Select the Security Group(s). 5. Select the Regular or Delete / Void from the Type field. 6. Enter the Issue date and Expire Date (This function only applied to Expire Mode). 7. Define the PIN field (This function depends on the security group setting). 8. Click on the Browse button adjacent to the Photo File Name field and open a

bitmap/jpeg file containing the individual's picture. 9. Click on the Save button. How to edit an existing Personnel database record 1. Double-click on a field to open the Definition screen for the selected individual, or

select a field and click on the Edit button. 2. Edit fields as necessary. 3. Click on the Save button. How to delete a Personnel database record Option 1. Select the line for the record to be deleted, and click on the Delete button. Option 2. Select the line for the record to be deleted, and press the Delete key on your PC

keyboard. How to update terminals Click on the Send This button to send the current Personnel record to the Controller(s).

This screen contains the following definition fields: Staff No. – Staff Number. Card No. – your proximity, or smart card number Name – cardholder name Description – comment of the card Department – Cardholder’s department. Expire Mode – Select this function to enable expire mode. It means the card only valid between Issue Date and Expire Date. PIN – secret code (Password) of this card Type – Define this card is active or not Issue Date – expiry time for the card Exp. Date – expiry date for the card Photo File Path – photo of the card to be displayed when on-line Security Group – System Access level for this card (you may select up to 4 groups)



Click “Staff Personal Data” for more staff information below



Add Card if you do not have card number printed on the card 1. Click online scanning, and click ‘Start Scan”

Department Setup Select this button for department setup, each department has a Late Allowance (in minutes) for use in Late Report. Each department can be defined with difference start working hours below.

For working days, please select here Holiday Setup This folder contains all holidays in a year: ACM Access Control System contains 2 types of holiday that you can define. This feature gives the user more flexibility.



For example, some staff may have some holidays while other staff does not have, therefore ACM allow you to define 2 types of holidays which enable user to set these specific needs. Sending parameter to Controller This folder defines what data to send to and/or receive from ACM controller(s). The left side of this folder defines data to send and to which controller(s) to send this data. The right side defines what data to receive and from which controller(s).



How to send data to a controller 1. Select the type of data to send. (Date and Time, Configuration, Security group, Card List,

Holiday) 2. Select Send To All or a specific controller. 3. Click on the Send button. How to reset a controller This operation initializes the controller and will cause all transaction data to be lost. 1. Select Send To All or a specific controller. 2. Click on the Reset button. How to receive data from a controller 1. Select the type of data to receive. 2. Select Send To All or a specific controller. 3. Click on the Receive button. Send To Controller fields Field Description Time and Date Resets the date and time at the terminals with the date and time that



you enter here. Configuration Sends the settings defined in the Door List folder. Card List Sends the settings defined in the Card List folder. Security Group Sends all of the settings defined in the following folders:

Holiday Sends the settings defined in the Holiday folder. Receive Data from Controller Like Online Scan, this function collect data from controller into ACM database Get Controller Info This function checks controller status and connection.

Real Time Monitoring Remark : You must connected to a running Controller in order to have on-line scanning.

How to start Online Select the desire controller and click the Start Scan button to start online scanning.



This module displays data as it is collected from the controller(s). The display consists of the following: 1. An online table of the transaction data collected. 2. The photo on file for the card used in the last transaction collected.3. Statistics displayed Statistic Description Controller Name

The name of the controller that is defined in the Controller List.

Door Name The name of the door that is defined in the Door List. Card ID Card Number of cardholder. Name Name of cardholder. Date Date Time Time Event Type This field indicates the status of transaction.

Open Transaction Record from Excel After you collected all data from the controller(s), you can find the record store in ACM



database as well as c:\ ACMBDE \trans.dat file. Transactions Report This folder used to filter the transactions Report. User can filter the transaction record by Date, Time, Card number, Staff number, Department, Security Group and Door.

This folder is mainly separated by 4 categories – Filter, Doors, Report Type and Sorting Order. Filter Group Date – Input the Transaction report’s date range. Time – Input the Transaction report’s Time range. Card No. – Card No. range should be in the report. Staff No. – Staff No. range should be in the report. Department – Select the department(s) that you want shows in the report. Security Group – Select the security group(s) that you want shows in the report. Event Type – Select the event type(s) that you want shows in the report. Doors List Select the door(s) that you want shows in the report. Report Type All – Show all transactions in the report.



First In / Last Out – Only show the earliest record and the latest record of each cardholder according to each day.

First In – Only show the earliest record of each cardholder according to each day. Last Out – Only show the latest record of each cardholder according to each day. Sorting Order ACM allow the transactions report with sorting order in Date/Time, Card No, Staff No, Departments, Door. Reporting in ASCII format

When you try to show the transactions report with ACM. At the same time, an ASCII format transactions report will be generate in the ACM directory name as FILO.txt. Door Control Monitoring In this screen you may monitor any door status in 3 status such as Normal Close, Normal Open, Abnormal Open.



You may click on Controller icon, then right click to select open all doors one time, resume normal, always open or always close. You may click on one specific door icon, then right click to select open one time, resume normal, always open or always close. Floor Map Monitoring Select this to monitor door status in Graphic mode, you may click on Controller icon, then right click to select open all doors one time, resume You can change the floor map in acm.ini by change the file name, the file format can be jpg or bmp, resolution shall be within 20 W x 13 H cm (72 dpi) Eg. LocationMapPath = Floorplan2.jpg



Event Setup ACM enable user to take special action during online scanning: 1. show different color of record 2. activate PC sound card with specific wav file 3. send a email via smtp server 4. activate relay to trigger any auxiliary device

How to add a new event alert

Click New button. Enter a name for this alert. Select an event type that you would be interest in the online report. Enter the date range for this alert that you would be interest in the online report. Enter the time range for this alert that you would be interest in the online report. Select a color for this alert that would be show in the online report. Select a wav file (sound file) you would like to alert when event happened. You may also add a email address to send someone an email for that event happen.

Please refer to acm.ini to setup the smtp server. In Active Relay section, you may add a specific card holder range to activate some relay

ID if necessary.



After adding the event feature, you may try to run online scanning to see the difference of the color for each type of event happens.



Email Alert Setup: Open C:\ ACMBDE\acm.ini, change the following to your ISP smtp server #----- Email alert setting EnableEmailAlert=0 SMTPServerName=smtp.yourISP.com [email protected] SenderName=Security Room Enter the email address of the recipients



Activate relay to trigger any auxiliary device For example if you want to activate a fire alarm bell, you may use one of the reader e.g door reader 6 and make a Master Card (eg. 0013391883). Once this card is presented on door reader 6, door 6 will open and door controller id 16 relay will be activated as well.



Door Location Map Setup Right click to create new door icon. Double Left click to edit or delete the door icon



Maintenance Delete Transactions This function use to clear the old transactions, it also will clear the transactions in the Online Report. Click Maintenance -> Delete Transactions form the pull down menu and select the cut-off date for the delete transactions from the Delete Transactions dialog display. You may delete all transaction or delete a specific date range.



Message Translation ACM enable user to change the contents of messages, buttons and labels to his language.

To change the software’s language to your language, simple input the contents to My Language field and click the “My Language” radio button. ACM will show the content in the “My Language” field if the content is not blank. Otherwise, ACM will show the content of “English” field.



User Password Control This option enables you to define system operators and restrict their access to ACM software according to the functions that they are to use. Each system operator must be given a user name, password, and access to specific modules. Access to a module is assigned by placing a check in the check box for that module.

Invoke ACM and define the Supervisor who is in charge of entering data. Assign the Supervisor a password for security. The next time you invoke ACM you will have to type in the password to get access. Each regular User has a separate password; the extent of each user's authority may be determined by the system Supervisor. To Create New User, click “New” Button, type in the user name, password (2 times) then click “OK”



Database Backup This feature allow user to backup all data into c:\ ACMBDE\Backup

Click “Yes” to confirm or “Cancel” to go back. If you click Yes, ACM will create a folder yyyyddmm hhmmss under c:\ ACMBDE\Backup A message will show “Backup Successful” Database Restore

Click “Yes” to confirm or “Cancel” to go back. If you click Yes, ACM will show you the backup folders, double click the folder you want to be restored, then double click any file inside the folder, click ok A message will show “Database had been restored successful”
