Dear ParentsI am pleased to be able to send you our latest Primary newsletter which you will see is full of exciting learning, wonderful trips and competitions. It was my first AJA sports day which was a real highlight for me. The children were happy and well behaved but I was particularly impressed with the level of sportsmanship shown by all. Reading and Science weeks were very busy and a big success. The learning was enriched with wonderful activities such as author and STEM visits. The ‘fantastic finish’ assemblies were vibrant and fun with the children's performances being some of the best I have seen to date. I am pleased to say that our ROAR like lions campaign has gained momentum and the values of our school can be seen everywhere. We are currently working towards taking greater ownership of our learning and our environment. This is something you could support us with at home by encouraging your children to complete the home learning. Have a happy weekend.
Warm Regards to you all

Welcome to Year 3Dear Parents,
The month of February has been an exciting month with many activities
such as: celebrating the 100th day of school, sports day and book week. The
children took part in the annual KS1 Sports Day. They were able to
compete with great skill and determination in field events ranging from
relay to javelin. All the children tried their hardest and there were some
outstanding performances from all the classes. It was lovely to see the
children being competitive and determined but also showing great
encouragement and sportsmanship towards each other throughout the
morning. It was fantastic to see so many parents supporting the children
in all the different activities.
We had a great week during book week with the children dressing up as a
book character and reading our favourite books. Book Week’s activities
entertained many interested minds, from writing super stories to ace
acting, there wasn’t a dull moment.
The children enjoyed
taking part in various
events during Sports Day.

Welcome to Year 4A brilliant start to 2018!
In Maths, we have been getting to grips with the various properties of 2D and 3D shapes. We have been learning how to spot these and have enjoyed applying symmetry in our Art lessons.
Both children and teachers have really enjoyed reading our new book ‘Spiderwick Chronicles’. Grammar lessons have focused on punctuation of speech. We have done this by looking at conversations between members of the Grace family.
In Science we have started our ‘States of matter’ unit. We have looked at the particle structure of solids, liquids and gases and how materials can change from one state to another.
Our KS2 Sports Day was a great success once again with all children enjoying activities such as obstacle course, football shoot and tug of war.

Welcome to Year 6We have made a blistering start to the new semester in Year 6. Already, we
have learned about the crucial role blood plays in the human body and how
this amazing red liquid connects our bodies and keeps us healthy. Our
work in English has linked nicely to our Science topic: Our Bodies. It is
good to see our students applying their knowledge and understanding
from one subject to another.
We have also been solving some tricky Math problems, such as identifying missing angles in 2D shapes and finding factors, multiples and even prime numbers. At the same time, we continue to focus on the development of our students’ calculation skills. We have a lot to cover in this most important of years so it’s good to see the hard work and dedication of so many of our students. In the past few days, we have jumped into Book Week. Each of our classes have been reading different books connected by the ‘From Book to Film’ theme. We have a range of tales being told across the year group, from jungle adventures in Jumanji to the weird worlds of Dr. Seuss. Kind regards,The Year six team.knowing they have worked hard to earn it!

From the LibrarySchool trip to MIA
This year’s school trip to Museum of Islamic Arts (MIA) was an enriching and educational experience for our students. Year 1 students learned how to illuminate and decorate literary works
through a tour of MIA’s galleries and studio work. They explored decorative motifs found in Islamic manuscripts, and produced a painting inspired by the art illumination.Carpet Weavers WorkshopYear 3 and Year 5 students produced mini tapestries using the flat-weaving technique on sustainable looms while also learning about carpet motifs and the history of tapestry weaving throughout four main Islamic dynasties. Year 5 boys learned art featured on Islamic weapons, especially those produced by the Islamic civilization during the Ottoman, Safavid and Mughal periods, from the 17th to the 19th century. Students’ created their own sword handle using mixed media and different decorative techniques. After the workshop, all groups enjoyed story time in MIA library followed by playtime in MIA Park. Overall it was great trip which included exploring history and reading.
More fun learning activities are coming up in the Second term

The learning Support team offered the opportunity for the rainbow students and gifted and talented students to take part in an educational visit at Engineering for Kids. This trip dedicated to the designing, development, and activation of solid, well-structured programs that are aimed at reintroducing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education as the fun and engaging fields that we know them to be. The workshops were designed to translate into the children’s minds as building blocks that contribute to their future substantially. The primary goal was to inspire young engineers to further explore the plethora of unparalleled knowledge found in STEM education.
