#1: How will I work with my publisher?Find out the marke,ng plan. Make this an honest conversa,on. No judgments. Your strategic goal is to find ways to complement, not duplicate the publisher’s strategy.
#2: What is the book going to do for me? Imagine your life one year aNer publica,on. How is the quality of your life different in terms of career and personal opportuni,es?
#3: What is my content marketing strategy?Think of your book as a web of discrete content assets. Marke,ng is not a linear process. It is a rela,onal process. How can you add value that creates engagement for your audience?
#4: Where do I start?Wherever you are with your knowledge of marke,ng and social networking is the perfect place for today. Work from reality, not from where you think you ought to be.
#5 How do I find the expertise I need?Marke,ng involves a collabora,on of skills. One strategy is to ask your peers for referrals for graphic designers, web designers, copywriters, editors, and social media prac,,oners who can work together to craN your brand.
#6: How do I create and prioritize goals?Use the SMART Goal system. S = specific. M = Measureable. A = AYainable. R = Realis,c. T = Timely. Write each goal in one or two sentences.
#7: How do I stay on track with my goals? Open a voice note app. Record your goals each week. When you play them back, no,ce your language and tone. Compare what you said with what you did. Make adjustments and keep going!
Inventing the FutureNo one has all of the answers. Invent your future. Be the spark that lights the way. Remember, don’t think of your book as a sta,c object. It is a living, knowledge ecosystem. Share its Awe wisely.
