This extremely tough tree will grow in

almost any site, from hot parking lots to

turf areas. Its moderate size, fast growth

rate, and attractive vase-shaped form make

it a popular choice for desert landscapes.

Masses of fragrant yellow puffball flowers

are produced in the spring. This species is

quite messy due to the heavy crop of plump

brown seed pods. However, this cultivar is

virtually free of pods which greatly reduces

the maintenance. The typical shape is shrub

-like so it will require selective pruning to

develop an upright tree form. This acacia is

somewhat hardier than the species although

it may shed some of its foliage in the win-

ter.

Synonyms: Acacia minuta, Acacia smallii.
