Plano

Developed by Vitra in Switzerland

Design: Antonio Citterio

When designing the AC 4, the aim was to subtly integrate the functions required to provide the best level of comfort. The reason for this is that until now, office chairs were either designed with a view to aesthetics or to functional characteristics. The AC 4, by contrast, integrates its ergonomic properties in such a subtle way that the constructional tricks are hidden away. The AC 4 creates a balance between advanced ergonomic functionality and subtle design. The innovative technology is neither showy nor hidden under foam padding. This makes the AC 4 an iconic object with an aura of elegance coupled with uncomprom-ising functionality.

3-zone comfort The integrated lumbar zone provides effective and pleasant support. The optional adjustable lumbar support transitions into a flexible zone for the upper back to sink into. The flexible zone for the upper back to sink into reduces tension and pressure on the discs and straightens up the neck and head. Thanks to the support provided by the shoulder zone, the neck muscles remain relaxed and it is easier for the user to maintain a horizontal view of the screen.

Automatic weight adjustment The synchronous mechanism with large opening angle and automatic weight adjustment of the backrest resistance ensure that the user’s weight is supported in every sitting position.

Armrests The multifunctional 3D armrests can be rotated by 360 degrees, which is very useful with e.g. table-oriented work. The aluminium ring armrests are an elegant variation for conferences, especially when leather-upholstered.

Ecology AC 4 has been awarded the Blue Angel eco-label and is also GREENGUARD Certified. AC 4 is made of up to 51% recycled materials and can be re-recy-cled up to 94%.
