Thé Palm tree in Sudan has a long history dating back to more than 4000years BC, since Karma Civilization (2500-1500 BC. ), and it was associatedwith intangible cultural héritage as a symbol of life and architecture and a signof civilization, where we find that thé palm leaves as a symbol on thé graves,temples and pottery. It was associated with thé human life cycle from birthuntil death in rituals, practices and social célébrations. This influence isrelated to ail various and successive religions until thé Islamic religion, wherethé Holy Qur'an honored it by mentioning it in Surat Maryam peace be uponher. In addition to that, thé palm tree was associated with practices andknowledge related to nature and thé universe, particularly knowledgeassociated with its cultivation, and caring for from its planting until picking itsfruits. Its parts are used in popular medicine to cure many diseases andprévention therefrom in addition to thé traditional handicraft skills in whichdifférent palm tree parts are used as raw materials for thé production of anumber of tools that used b human in his daily life such as palm leave stalks,

leaves, fibers and stem. Palm tree is also associated with oral traditions andoral expressions such as folk literature, folk poetry, sayings proverbs, puzzles,religious songs, sangs and songs, and are used to convey knowledge, culturaland social values and collective memory. It plays a very important rôle inpreserving a lively culture. Thé Palm is associated with thé performing art asits stem is used to make a "drum" thé rhythmic instrument that accompaniessinging.This élément, with its types associated with différent héritage fields, is createdby groups and bands and sometimes individuals in a manner consistent withtheir environment and their interaction with nature and history, as well asdeveloping their sensé of identity and sensé of continuity besides enhancinghuman creativity and playing an active rôle in sustainable development.
