About Video

What is it and how does it work?

What do you think?• How accessible is video in today’s society? Where

can you watch videos, movies, and TV shows?• How inexpensive /expensive is it to make a video?• What looks (visually) better, film or video?• On a bigger scale, what does it take to get a big

project movie/video made?

What is video?According to Webster’s Dictionary2: a recording of a motion picture or television

program for playing through a television set b : a videotaped performance of a song often featuring an interpretation of the lyrics through visual images

different mediums for shooting and storing footage for a production.• Video stores the image and sound on

a single cassette or memory card.• Video is portable and cheap.

Video vs. Film•Film has a rich and vibrant color quality.•Film is less tolerant of different light levels.•More cumbersome for editing.
