    The Riots sparked ater a police raid on the Black and White Ca in the StPauls Area on the 2nd April 1980. The riots were blamed a racially drive butit was reported that both black and white youths ought against. It is nowwidely believe that these young men and women were perhaps uelled bythe poverty and social injustices causes by the Sus Law (Stop and Search).

    St Pauls has been described by the guardian newspaper as one o the countrysmost notorious black spots or drug abuse, prostitution, gun crime and GangWarare. Many tur wars have ensued between two main rival gangs the Yardiesand the Aggie. During annual St Pauls Carnival in 2003 a shootout began between

    the two gangs, with a total o six separate attacks that were presumed to be overheroin and crack cocaine deals.

    1963 Bristol Bus Boycott

    The Bus boycott began when the Bristol omnibus Company reused to employblack or Asian bus drivers. The boycott which was led by Paul Stephenson andthe West Indian Development Council, which was inspired by the Rosa Parksprotest in the USA. The boycott lasted or 4 months until the company eventu-ally conceded and over turned their colour bar. The boycott helped to bring toattention the issues o racial discrimination in Bristol and the UK. The Boycott is

    considered by main a key actor in the passing o the two Race Relations Acts o1965 and 1968.
