Tells the viewer that this short film is animated. Also informs you who the producer is. This is done so fans of said producer can easily recognise his new film and have more of an incentive to view it. The macabre image of the noose

suggests the dark subject nature of the short film.

The title of the short film ‘A New Beginning’ is stylized between the noose suggesting the idea of a new beginning has been killed.

Due to this being a short film and cannot rely on word of mouth alone to entice viewers the creators have decided to place a short summary on the front of the poster

Contact address for the director of the film has been placed on the poster to allow potential investors and backers to easily

The sombre image of a lonely man, smoking a cigarette in a dark room portrays the genre of the short to the audience.

The tagline gives the audience a quick insight into the general plot of the short and the genre in which it is shown.

The title, ‘Drawback’, suggests the plot may been centred around a man trying to rebuild his life after an incident set him back.

The colour black, which is predominant in the poster, creates a professional looking poster by keeping it minimalistic.

The positioning of the crews name on the poster looks great. However, the font looks too basic, like Arial. To be more convincing as a professional film the poster needs to use different and unique fonts that fit perfectly with the tone of the film.

Overall, I do not like this particular poster. The shot from which the picture is taken from is positioned good and the cinematography is excellent. However, the picture doesn’t blend with the rest of the poster and creates jarring lines where the poster meets the picture.

Also, the font chosen for the actors and director’ names is too basic. For a poster which is clearly proud of how many festival awards it has won, the thought and originality is poor.

Overall, I really like this poster. I believe the contrast between the yellow of the sky and the black of the road looks beautiful and creates an interesting and captivating cover that definitely would persuade anyone interested in films to consider watching it.

The tagline for the short movie is interesting and gives the audience a quick brief on what the plot involves. This is all that is needed to intrigue a potential viewer. However, it is unoriginal, I’ve seen similar ones before but this does not deter from the fact that this is an excellent poster and if I could make mine anywhere near as good, then I’d be proud.

The picture being flipped creates an easy perspective for this poster. It is very stylistic and it was what originally attracted me to the poster. It is also very clever, as traditionally the name of the film would be shown towards the bottom of the poster, and by flipping the image it allows for title to be in a clear space within the poster.
