We thank God for the Badgetts’ joyful labor among us, that witnesses to their hope. In light of Mission Madness and Bob’s retirement announcement, we remem- ber the words of 1 Timothy 4:10: “That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and es- pecially of those who believe.” Let us continue to put our hope in the living God! ~ Blessings, Michael P.S. CBF National Missions Offering

Through the end of April, we will be collecting contributions for National Mis-sions, with a goal of $3000. To date we have collected $2,040. UBC is again designating our Easter offering to the work of Paula Settle, CBF Associate in Na-da, Kentucky. This area is one of our nation’s 20 “pockets of poverty” identified by the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship over a decade ago.

While our offering for this year is focused on helping the college students, we also want to give Paula the flexibility to continue to help with critical community needs. Please give a generous gift to our CBF National Missions Offering.

For more information about Paula Settle’s work through the Cooperative Baptist Fellow-ship, go to http://www.thefellowship.info/Missions/Field-personnel/Settle.

What an amazing “Operation Mission Madness” we had two weekends ago! Around 230 youth and their chaperones descended upon UBC Friday night and spent an incredible 48 hours worship-ping, working on twenty-nine mission projects throughout Charlottesville and Albemarle county, prayer walking around UVA grounds and the medical center, and just having fun.

This weekend would not have been possible without the leadership and par-ticipation of many people. Many thanks to Mark Snipes of the Coopera-tive Baptist Fellowship of Virginia for providing organizational leadership in this, their sixth year of offering Mission Madness. Many thanks to Erin Brown, Phil Woodson, and John and Sarah Bu-chanan for taking the lead in organizing UBC’s part of hosting a Mission Mad-ness site this year. They did an amaz-ing job morphing our traditional “Operation Inasmuch” day of commu-nity service into this much larger event.

I cannot even begin to name the many volunteers who spent parts (or all) of the weekend registering and feeding our guests, loading and unloading sup-plies, taking out trash, serving as site leaders, and working alongside the youth.

The theme this year was “Hope,” and throughout the weekend, during wor-ship times and out in the community,

we were all invited to see how the hope of the risen Christ is made known. It reminded me that Christian hope is not passive, merely waiting for God to work, but dynamic and active.

Finally, in light of Bob Badgett’s resig-nation announcement, I want to express my deep appreciation for Bob’s faithful ministry at UBC for these past twelve and a half years. Bob’s can-do attitude, good humor, and faithful servanthood will be greatly missed. We wish Bob and Patti the best, and I encourage all to express your thanks to the Badgetts when you have a chance. We thank God for the Badgetts’ joyful labor among us, that witnesses to their hope.

In light of Mission Madness and Bob’s retirement announcement, we remem-ber the words of 1 Timothy 4:10: “That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and es-pecially of those who believe.” Let us continue to put our hope in the living God! ~ Blessings, Michael
