The Institute of Texan Culture was Texas Pavilion.
The Mexican Cultural Institute was US Pavilion.
The Tower of the Americas was the tallest observation tower in US till 1996.

750 foot-tall.
Designed by O'Neil Ford.
The building that defines San Antonio skyline.
At the top, there is a Restaurant and 4D movie theater.
General admission $10.95 + taxes.
Riverwalk
Riverwalk
The Riverwalk contrunction began in 1926.
The Riverwalk's major extension was built for the 1968 World's Fair.
The Riverwalk is a canal that help to prevent water floods.
From 3 to 4 feet deep.
Sidewalk in both sides.
Useful way to move in Downtown because connect most of the turistic places.
It's under the street level.

If you feel lazy to walk the Riverwalk, you can sail it!

The Alamo
The Alamo
Originally, The Alamo was Mission San Antonio de Valero.
In Mission San Antonio de Valero lived Spanish missioners with converted Indians.
In early 1800 changed the name to The Alamo in honor to the town of Alamo de Parras, Coahuila, Mexico.
When Mexico become independent from Spain, Texas become a mexican province.
The Alamo
In December 1835, texan revolutionary volunteers occupied the Alamo.
David Davy Crockett arrived to the Alamo on February, 9.
On February 23, 1836, mexican army arrived to the Alamo and started a siege.
William B. Travis wrote his famous letter Victory or death and sent couriers carrying pleas for help.
On March 6, 1836, mexican army entered in the Alamo.

Riverwalk
Riverwalk
There are a lot of restaurants in the Riverwalk.
Most of them are mexican.
Most restaurants have street level and Riverwalk level.
You can enjoy your lunch or dinner inside or outside.
Friday and Saturday evenings the Riverwalk is very crowded.
Some luxury hotels have access to Riverwalk.
In the mornings, people use the Riverwalk to take a walk or jogging.
The walking area is 2.5 miles long.
San Fernando Cathedral
San Fernando Cathedral
Founded in 1731 by Spanish settlers from Canary Islands.
San Fernando Cathedral it's the oldest, continously functioning religious community in Texas.
The first building was a chruch and it was finished in 1749.
The current building was finished in 1873.
The faade is French Gothic style.
The remains of the defenders of the Alamo are buried in the San Fernando Cathedral.
The cathedral is also known as the Church of Nuestra Seora de la Candelaria y Guadalupe.
Santa Ana raises the flag of no quarter during the battle of the Alamo.

Spanish Governor's Palace
The building was constructed in 1722.
In the Palace, the Spanish army had the first military presence in San Antonio.
The building was the residence and office for captains of Spanish Army.
The Palace has 10 rooms and a big courtyard with a fountain in the middle.
El Mercado
El Mercado
El Mercado is also know as Market Square.
It's a shopping area whre you can buy mexican handcrafts and from other countries.
It's the biggest mexican market in the US.
El Mercado is also the scene of many hispanic festivals.
There are several mexican restaurants.
On weekends, you can buy something to eat in the food spots.
On weekends, you can listen mexican music in the permanent stage.
Soon will reopen the Museo Alameda's with exhibitions and performances related with hispanic culture.
La Villita
La Villita
La Villita -smallville- was the first neighborhood in San Antonio.
Was a settlement of Spanish soldiers living in huts.
During the battle of the Alamo, Santa Ana installed his cannons in the area.
Late in 19th century german and french immigrants moved to La Villita.
La Villita has it's own church -the little church-.
Each house is a shop, gallery or restaurant.
