Under unfinished business, Tom Lohr and Tim Eddy talked about the Brat Sale at Village Market and Nelson AgriCenter on June 11 th . It was announced that a countywide baby sitting class is offered in the newsletter. Trent Mowery gave a report on the Syttendi Mai Parade entry our club had. Megan Bakkum talked about the 4H Raffle Tickets and they were handed out. Julie Larson talked about the Cornerstone Christian Community service project. We will stain the front porch and paint the merrygo round. Watch your email to signup for the best date. Suzie Clements talked about the club going camping one night this summer. The Clements and Hall family have pledges, cans, treats and clean up for this month. Lead families for next month are the Lee, Kupjak and Lohr families. Wesley Oldenberg moved a motion to adjourn the meeting and Krista Hall seconded it. Meeting adjourned at 7:35 pm. After the meeting, John Dumars led the group in a archery presentation. Before the meeting we had a Dairy Dish Potluck to celebrate June Dairy Month.
Lucky Clovers—Brady Nigh June— The June meeting of the Lucky Clovers 4H was held at the Zion Church. Work continues on our Service Grant to build a handicapped accessible bench and table for the Vernon County Fair Grounds. A club trip to Wisconsin Dells will take place on Thursday, June 16, 2011. The group will divide up between Noah’s Ark and Mount Olympus. Next meeting will be July 11th at the Sidie Hollow Park.
Seas Branch Smithies—Olivia Ahnen June—The Seas Branch Smithies 4H club held a meeting on June 6, 2011. The meeting was called to order by Courtney Moser (our president was absent). Vernon County 4H Leader/Parent Federation Minutes
Vernon County 4H Leader/Parent Federation Meeting June 15, 2011 Present: Executive Board: Tom TitelRainbow Reachers, Jim HawthorneNerison, Tammy SherryMM/Rt 56, Anne Marie ElwingLucky Clovers, Diana and Mark Leis East Ridge Beavers, Heather Dregne East Ridge Beavers, Deb and Aleda PrimmerMMRt 56, Cheryl Rebhahn MM/Rt 56, Kathy RedingtonHillsboro Hilltoppers, Joanne Hornby DD/BB, Forrest and Robert Krause Enterprise Eagles, Beth LeeSpringville Superstars, Tjark Sattler4H Summer Assistant and Colleen Pulvermacher, 4H Youth Development Educator.
President Tom Titel called the meeting to order at 7:05pm. Pledges were recited and introductions performed. Secretary’s Report –Beth Lee made a motion to accept the minutes from May 18, 2011, Joanne Hornby seconded. Treasurer’s report was reviewed. Forrest Krause made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report from May 18, 2011, Deb Primmer seconded. Motion carried. State 4H recommends not publishing the amount of our treasury in the newsletter, but rather state that the treasurer’s report is on file and available for review upon request. Old Business: At the last meeting, the issue of staffing the food stand at the County Fair was brought up. Colleen said she would look into it and report what she found out from our fellow counties. Sixty eight counties replied about how scheduling was done at their county fairs. Most of them reported that the lottery system was used the most. At this time it is recommended that we focus on getting the new food stand built and after the fair then we will look at adjusting the schedule for next year. As the schedule comes out this coming year if there are any conflicts please contact Joyce Sheldon. State Regulations are that the kids need to be 12 years old and older to work in the fair stand. Deb Primmer asked if staffing the food stand could be brought up at the Leaders Retreat held on July 6, 2011, so that the larger clubs could help the smaller clubs. The consensus was to leave the schedule the way it is. Some questions where brought up about the booklet newsletter format last month. The print cannot be made any bigger that what was shown, and the paper would be all one color. More information is needed and so this was tabled until next month. New Business: The office at times needs checks issued and the treasurer is not available. A motion was made to have all the executive officers names on the card at the bank so they can sign the checks in case of an emergency. To do this the bylaws have to be changed. They were last changed in 2009. It was agreed upon to add a Section 5 to the bylaws. This will have to be read at two meetings and then voted upon. This is what will be added to the bylaws:
Section 5: In event the Treasurer is unavailable to sign checks; any of the other executive officers shall be authorized to sign checks in the event that they are needed.
We welcome Tjark Sattler our Summer Assistant this year and he has a busy summer ahead of him with all the things he has planned which he shared with the group. There will be a two hour training session on Parliamentary Procedures for the club youth and parents. They will have a onehour training session and then the second hour they will have a friendly competition to see who does the best. Discussion on prizes was held. A motion was made by Jim Hawthorne to give each club $20 for participation in this training session. Heather Dregne seconded. There will be refreshments served. Tom and Jim volunteered to help with this training. Educator’s presentation – The IRS is making changes to the chartering process, which will affect all clubs . The leaders will learn more about this at the Leaders Retreat at the Blue Goose on July 6, 2011. Cheryl Rebhahn made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Heather Dregne seconded. Meeting adjourned by President Titel at 8:10pm.
Ed, Pam, Patricia and Paula Fanta joined us at the reception for the presentation of the Scholarships. Forrest Krause from the Scholarship Committee presented the $300 Scholarships to Patricia Fanta and Aleda Primmer. Scholarship recipients who were not able to attend include Courtney Stilwell and Michele Gutenberger. Thank you everyone for the snacks that were brought.
