A Service of Worship including the

Sacrament of Communion

For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread,

and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said,

“This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.”

In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying,

“This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.”

For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

God’s People Gather for Worship

By God’s grace alone and to his glory alone, we exist to worship God in his greatness and his holiness with Gospel-drive passion and integrity…” (excerpted from FPC Rome Mission Statement)

Prelude Mr. Kyle Coleman

Declaring God’s Praise

Call to Worship from Psalm 146

Leader: Praise the LORD. Praise the LORD, my soul.

ALL: I will praise the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.

Leader: Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save. When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing.

ALL: Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is i the LORD their God.

Leader: He is the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them— he remains faithful forever.

ALL: He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry.

Leader: The LORD sets prisoners free, the LORD gives sight to the blind,

ALL: The LORD lifts up those who are bowed down, the LORD loves the righteous.

Leader: The LORD watches over the foreigner and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.

ALL: The LORD reigns forever, your God, O Zion, for all generations. Praise the LORD.

Affirming Our Faith

The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; he descended into hell;

the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;

from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
