Michael Broyles has been directing music groups since he was in the first grade, where he got his start as leader of the Rhythm Band! He sang his first solo in church at the age of seven, and the Minister of Music had to borrow the water fountain step stool to put behind the pulpit at the First Baptist Church! His love of music enabled him to be in Hugo Junior High and High School choirs and bands, and his ability to play piano allowed him to accompany solos, ensembles, weddings, church services, etc. He graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University with a degree in Music Education, Piano emphasis. He has hours toward a Masters in Conducting, and he has studied at Silverlake College toward Kodaly certification—a form of sight reading and music analysis. He has taught in the Oklahoma City area school systems of Western Heights, Moore, Edmond, and Her- itage Hall. He has been a professional staff singer at many churches in the OKC, Boston, Philadelphia, and Fort Myers, FL areas. While in Boston, he was a singer in the Boston Symphony Orchestra choral group —Tanglewood Festival Chorus, where he appeared on many televised shows with the BSO and Boston Pops. He is currently employed by Tulsa Opera as a director in the inaugural season of Raise Your Voice!, where he oversees three middle school choirs as the TPS system strives to bring vocal music back into the classroom. He is accompanist for the music program at Hale High School, and was recently a pro- fessional Tenor at Trinity Episcopal, Tulsa. He is the father of a very talented and successful OSU graduate—Elizabeth. She is currently living in Boston and works in the fine dining industry. Michael has expressed his excitement about assisting our church in worship experiences through music, and we are so blessed God called this very talented person to share his gifts with God’s people in Okmulgee. Come and enjoy music, food and fellowship next week to welcome him to the family! In Christ’s Service, Roland

FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

OKMULGEE, OKLAHOMA

This week I would like to share with you Michael Broyles’ bio so that you can get to know him a little

better. We are truly blessed to have Michael as our new Director of Music Ministries. I want to remind

you that this Sunday, April 15, we will be worshipping in a combined service at 11:00 a.m. in the Rowe

Family Life Center. The church will be providing the meat for the meal, but please bring your favorite

dish to pass. Following is Michael’s Bio.

Michael Broyles has been directing music groups since he was in the first grade, where he got his start as

leader of the Rhythm Band! He sang his first solo in church at the age of seven, and the Minister of

Music had to borrow the water fountain step stool to put behind the pulpit at the First Baptist Church!

His love of music enabled him to be in Hugo Junior High and High School choirs and bands, and his

ability to play piano allowed him to accompany solos, ensembles, weddings, church services, etc.

He graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University with a degree in Music Education, Piano emphasis.

He has hours toward a Masters in Conducting, and he has studied at Silverlake College toward Kodaly

certification—a form of sight reading and music analysis.

He has taught in the Oklahoma City area school systems of Western Heights, Moore, Edmond, and Her-

itage Hall. He has been a professional staff singer at many churches in the OKC, Boston, Philadelphia,

and Fort Myers, FL areas. While in Boston, he was a singer in the Boston Symphony Orchestra choral

group —Tanglewood Festival Chorus, where he appeared on many televised shows with the BSO and

Boston Pops.

He is currently employed by Tulsa Opera as a director in the inaugural season of Raise Your Voice!,

where he oversees three middle school choirs as the TPS system strives to bring vocal music back into

the classroom. He is accompanist for the music program at Hale High School, and was recently a pro-

fessional Tenor at Trinity Episcopal, Tulsa.

He is the father of a very talented and successful OSU graduate—Elizabeth. She is currently living in

Boston and works in the fine dining industry.

Michael has expressed his excitement about assisting our church in worship experiences through music,

and we are so blessed God called this very talented person to share his gifts with God’s people in

Okmulgee. Come and enjoy music, food and fellowship next week to welcome him to the family!

In Christ’s Service,

Roland
