A PLACE TO CALL HOME February 4, 2018
MATERIAL WEALTH VS SPIRITUAL WEALTH WHAT IS TRULY MEANINGFUL TO US?
I PRAY PEACE & GRACE IS ABUNDANTLY YOURS THROUGH GOD OUR FATHER & JESUS CHRIST OUR KING & SAVIOR.
Is material or Spiritual wealth “meaningful” to you in your life? Can there be a balance of both? What did the wisest
man who ever lived think about that subject? That man was Solomon. He actually though that his riches were
“meaningless”. What a contrast in thought that someone who had everything & anything he wanted felt it was
“meaningless.” God had blessed Solomon with riches beyond our imaginations because when given the opportunity
Solomon had only asked God for wisdom to rule God’s people. We can read in Ecclesiastes what King Solomon
thought about being abundantly rich in all the material things that he had accumulated.
Ecclesiastes 2:10-11 - I denied myself nothing my eyes desired; I refused my heart no pleasure. My heart took delight
in all my labor & this was the reward for all my toil. Yet, when I surveyed all that my hands had done & what I had
toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun.
Solomon had everything & anything he could want. As an example: in addition to land & people subject to his rule,
Solomon had 4,000 stalls for chariot horses & 12,000 horses. Now if you want to see how much food it took daily to
feed the people that worked for him in his palace, on his land & those who worked in his military you can check that
out in 1 Kings chapter 4. It is truly amazing.
Ravi Zacharias, a Christian apologist speaker, teaches that the phrase “under the sun” is a Hebrew expression for
“without God.” Solomon understood that no pleasure in this world is lasting & therefore an abundance of pleasure
can lead to “meaninglessness”. The things of this world are not worth loving as God ought to be loved, for the world
& its desires will pass away.
1 John 2:15-17 - Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not
in them. For everything in the world: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes & the pride of life comes not from the
Father but from the world. The world & its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.
There is nothing wrong with being wealthy; we know that God wants us to enjoy the pleasures available to us, if we
are driven to the point where obtaining material wealth in our lives overshadows our drive in obtaining Spiritual
wisdom, knowledge & understanding it is not pleasing to our Father. We cannot buy our way into Heaven with
material riches. Christ already paid the price; all we have to do is to accept Him as our King & Savior to obtain eternal
life & live in those mansions in Heaven. If we are faithful & serve God, then He will provide everything we need.
Philippians 4:19, and my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Proverbs 15:6- Great
wealth is in the house of the righteous, but trouble is in the income of the wicked. Matthew 6:20 - …store up for yourselves
treasures in Heaven where neither moth nor rust destroys & where thieves do not break in or steal. Matthew 6:24, “No one
can serve 2 masters for either he will hate the one & love the other, or he will be devoted to the one & despise the other.
You cannot serve God & money.” Matthew 6:33 - But seek first the Kingdom of God & His righteousness & all these things
will be added to you. Proverbs 11:4- Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death.
1 Timothy 6:17-19 - But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation into a snare, into many senseless & harmful desires
that plunge people into ruin & destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that
some have wandered away from the faith & pierced themselves with many pangs. But as for you, o man of God, flee these
things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness.
I pray God blesses each and every one of you with spiritual wisdom, knowledge & understanding. Mary Bowden
WHAT DOES IT REALLY MEAN?
Salvation and Sanctification
Salvation is the process of being saved & our
deliverance from hell. It is the act of accepting the free
gift of Jesus to pay the penalty for our sin. Jesus was
our substitute. He took on the consequence for sin
(which was Spiritual death) in our place. Salvation is
also committing to live our lives in accordance with
what God asks us to do & be. Salvation happens once.
Sanctification is the means by which our deliverance
is realized through the action of the Holy Spirit. It is
the daily & lifelong process of becoming more like
Jesus. It demonstrates that we are acting on our
commitment (made during salvation) to live according
to God’s standards. We won’t do this perfectly.
Sanctification involves asking for God’s help to live the
way he wants us to & asking forgiveness when we sin
to enhance our relationship with God. Sanctification
happens over & over.
Excerpt from Jesus Calling:
“HOLD MY HAND”
Hold My hand & walk joyously with Me
through this day. Together we will savor the
pleasures & endure the difficulties it brings.
Be on the lookout for everything I have
prepared for you: stunning scenery, bracing
winds of adventure, cozy nooks for resting
when you are weary & much more. I am your
guide as well as your constant Companion. I
know every step of the journey ahead of you,
all the way to Heaven.
You don’t have to choose between staying
close to Me & staying on course. Since I am
the Way, staying close to Me is staying on
course. As you focus your thoughts on Me, I
will guide you carefully along today’s
journey. Don’t worry about what is around
the next bend. Just concentrate on enjoying
My Presence & staying in step with Me.
Philippians 4:13 - I can do all things through
Christ who strengthens me.
Isaiah 58:11 - And the Lord will continually
guide you & satisfy your desire in scorched places
& give strength to your bones; & you will be like a
watered garden & like a spring of water whose
waters do not fall.
John 14:6 - Jesus said to him, “I am the way &
the truth & the life; no one comes to the Father but
through Me.”
Colossians 4:2 - Devote yourselves to prayer,
keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving

Our sister in Christ, Pam needs some help
Pam Lattin is in need of a home. She would like to get or rent a single wide trailer in which to live. Is
there anyone out there that can help her out, please? She has been trying to save her money to be
able to buy a trailer. As we all know, Lannie passed away a few weeks ago and Pam is temporarily
living in a small travel trailer on the property. The living conditions are not the best & her safety is
becoming compromised at this time as she is being put in the middle of all his children who have
now decided to come forward to claim his belongings. Any help would be appreciated to get our
sister in Christ in a better living situation. Thanks to everyone in advance for helping.

HIS SPIRIT’S MOVING ME written by Mary - Mary sings
Love, His love is moving me; tender love I can feel & see. When I falter in my fear, He’s there &
draws me near & I’m moved, His Spirit’s moving me.
Close your eyes feel His spirit inside you. He’ll teach you things that you never knew. He freely
gives His wisdom to all who come to Him; you’ll be moved, His Spirit will move you.
Moved, He’s moving me; I can feel Him in my heart eternally. Even when I go astray He’s there to
show the way & I’m moved, His Spirit’s moving me. Peace, His peace is moving me; the comfort that
He gives sets me free. When troubles come a callin’ He releases every burden & I’m moved, His
Spirit’s moving me. C.
Light, His light is moving me; His light is the truth that I can see. Darkness cannot enter & there’ll be
no more sinners & I’m moved, His Spirit’s moving me. Joy, His joy is moving me; my heart will leap
for joy eternally. When I dance upon His clouds I will shout His name out loud & I’m moved, His
Spirit’s moving me. C.
I’M BOUND FOR THE KINGDOM Rick sings
You may ask me where I’m headed, you may ask me where I’m bound. Well, I’m going to a country
across the sea & I know I’ll have a mansion & I know I’ll have a crown. Well I’m bound for the
Kingdom of the free.
Yes, I’m bound for the Kingdom of the blessed & the free & my Jesus soon is coming after me.
There is nothing to compare with the glory over there, yes, I’m bound for the Kingdom of the free.
Well, I’m going to a country where they say we’ll never die. There’ll be endless joy & glory there for
me. Yes, I know I’ll live forever in that city in the sky. Well, I’m bound for the Kingdom of the free. C.
I BELIEVE IN HIS AMAZING GRACE written by Pastor Bobby - Adam sings
I believe, I believe, I believe in His amazing grace. I believe, I believe, I believe in His amazing
grace.
Faith was what I lost, faith is what I found when the Savior Jesus picked me off the ground.
When a thousand bolts of lightning flashed around my eyes, my heart was split wide open & my soul
began to cry. C.
Now every chance I get I pray at the cross in the town of Faith to that Mighty Trail Boss.
He rides right beside me; I see Him in the sky. My heart is filled with faith & my soul begins to cry. C.
10,000 REASONS Adam sings
Bless the Lord, O my soul. O my soul, worship His holy name. Sing like never before O my soul. I’ll
worship your holy name.
The sun comes up; it’s a new day dawning. It’s time to sing Your song again. Whatever may pass &
whatever lies before me let me be singing when the evening comes. C.
You’re rich in love & you’re slow to anger. Your Name is great & Your heart is kind. For all Your
goodness I will keep on singing; 10,000 reasons for my heart to find. C.
And on that day when my strength is failing the end draws near & my time has come. Still my soul
will sing Your praise unending; 10,000 years & then forever more! C.C.
STAND BY ME Mary sings
When the night has come & the land is dark & Jesus is the only Light I see. I won’t be afraid, no, I
won’t be afraid just as long as He stands, stands by me.
Jesus, Jesus stand by me, oh stand by me. When I’m in need, stand, stand by me.
If the sky that we look upon should tumble & fall & the mountains should crumble to the sea. I
won’t cry, no I won’t cry, I won’t shed a tear just as long as He stands, stands by me. C.
I was lost in my life & wandering around when the good news of the Kingdom came to me. I prayed
to God, prayed to God to show me His way I know that Jesus, my Jesus stands by me. C.
WHY NOT HIM Debbie sings
You’ve been lookin’ for a life full of promise & hope. Sister, don’t ya know this is where your new
life begins; why not Him.
When ya finally come back to walk with Him He’ll remove your burdens & forgive all your sins; why
not Him.
Why not Him on a rainy day, why not Him to love your cares away; why not Him. Why not Him
when the nights get cold, why not Him when you’re growin’ old; why not Him.
You’ve been searchin’ from here to San Antone & all this time that you looked ya know you’ve
never been alone; why not Him. You had to see if the world was round It’s time that you learned
to open your hear again; why not Him. C.
You’ve been looking for a life full of promise & hope, sister don’t ya know this is where your new
life begins; why not Him.
