Term 2 Week 8 - 2020 DIARY DATES 3 July - Pyjama Day (Raising funds for the Salvaon Army) 3 July - End Term 2 2.15 dismissal A Note from Principal - Adam Wilson Student Responsibility It is amazing that through the COVID 19 pandemic some restricons have forced students to be more responsible. We prompt using gel and washing hands and now students do this automacally. I also find it interesng that due to parents not being able to be in classes for drop off, students are able to do all of the morning rounes unassisted. It just shows that when given the opportunity children can be responsible for themselves. Parent Responsibility The ability to manage emoons, communicate effecvely and solve problems are seen as crical skills to gain employment. In almost all employment fields these skills are essenal and if you dont have one of them then your chances of gaining employment decline quickly. These 3 skills are taught in schools daily. We prompt students to understand what emoon they are feeling and give them strategies to geng back to a calm state. We model speaking well in groups and we are always providing students problems and giving them strategies to solve them. We do it because it is our job. I also feel that this responsibility does not stop at the school gate. How do you model and speak to your child about their bigemoons? Do you tell them to stop being so sillyor do you reassure them that the feeling is normal but provide them with ways to get to a calm state. Do you pick them up when they use unkind words? Do you provide them with a level of responsibility that they are capable of and allow them to struggle, or do you do everything for them (Im guilty of doing this)? These skills are life skills and ones that will set your child up to succeed. Together we have this responsibility. Uniform Governing Council have taken the feedback provided and have decided on the new Hoodie/Jacket design. There are 3 opons. A hoodie with similar material with our current hoodie and less yellow than the original design. A shell jacket that is thinner but has a windproof material and a vest which is the same as the jacket but without sleeves. We sll have the current hoodies in stock with ALL hoodie and jacket designs being acceptable with a natural phase out of the old design. These new designs will be available to order online soon. Samples will be held in the front office. I would personally like to thank Governing Council for their thorough consultaon and input into the design of the winter clothing. 3 July - Pyjama Day (Raising funds for the

Salvation Army)

3 July - End Term 2 2.15 dismissal

A Note from Principal - Adam Wilson

Student Responsibility It is amazing that through the COVID 19 pandemic some restrictions have forced students to be more responsible. We prompt using gel and washing hands and now students do this automatically. I also find it interesting that due to parents not being able to be in classes for drop off, students are able to do all of the morning routines unassisted. It just shows that when given the opportunity children can be responsible for themselves.

Parent Responsibility The ability to manage emotions, communicate effectively and solve problems are seen as critical skills to gain employment. In almost all employment fields these skills are essential and if you don’t have one of them then your chances of gaining employment decline quickly. These 3 skills are taught in schools daily. We prompt students to understand what emotion they are feeling and give them strategies to getting back to a calm state. We model speaking well in groups and we are always providing students problems and giving them strategies to solve them. We do it because it is our job. I also feel that this responsibility does not stop at the school gate. How do you model and speak to your child about their “big” emotions? Do you tell them to “stop being so silly” or do you reassure them that the feeling is normal but provide them with ways to get to a calm state. Do you pick them up when they use unkind words? Do you provide them with a level of responsibility that they are capable of and allow them to struggle, or do you do everything for them (I’m guilty of doing this)? These skills are life skills and ones that will set your child up to succeed. Together we have this responsibility.

Uniform Governing Council have taken the feedback provided and have decided on the new Hoodie/Jacket design. There are 3 options. A hoodie with similar material with our current hoodie and less yellow than the original design. A shell jacket that is thinner but has a windproof material and a vest which is the same as the jacket but without sleeves. We still have the current hoodies in stock with ALL hoodie and jacket designs being acceptable with a natural phase out of the old design. These new designs will be available to order online soon. Samples will be held in the front office. I would personally like to thank Governing Council for their thorough consultation and input into the design of the winter clothing.
