Study Biosciences in the UK
A new partnership between the University of Birmingham, UK and Fudan University provides the opportunity for students from Fudan to study and graduate with a Bioscience degree from the University of Birmingham.The University of Birmingham is proud of its long history of engagement with China. Li Siguang, one of our most famous Chinese graduates obtained his BSc, MSc and PhD at Birmingham. Located in the Heart of England, the University is just 100 miles from the capital city of London. We are part of the Russell Group (akin to the American Ivy League) ofresearch intensive UK Universities. The School of Biosciences is the largest biology school in the region, delivering internationally excellent teaching and research across the broad span of modern biological subjects. With over 1000 students taught by an academic faculty of over 60 members, delivering programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels covering aspects of Biology from the study of individual biological molecules to the study of whole ecosystems. The partnership between the University of Birmingham and Fudan University allows students who begin their studies at Fudan to finish their studies at Birmingham and achieve either a bachelor degree (BSc Hons) or a Masters degree (MSci) in Biological Sciences or Biochemistry.

The programmes at Birmingham
Successful applicants recruited into the programme scheme will:o Have studied Biological Sciences
or Biotechnology for the first 2 years at Fudan University
o Either study for 2 years in the School of Biosciences and gain a BSc (Hons) or 3 years and gain a Masters of Science (MSci), at the University of Birmingham
o Graduate with a Bachelor or Masters degree awarded by the University of Birmingham which will be recognised by Fudan University
o Students can study either Biological Sciences or Biochemistry
o We offer a wide choice of specialist modules which allow students to follow their own interests
o Teaching is delivered in a vibrant research-led environment by internationally recognised specialists
o Students have the opportunity to join one of the internationally renowned research teams at Birmingham to carry out their final year project
o Practical work will help students to develop their research skills
o Studying in the UK will help students to develop a more independent learning style in the enquiry based British education system
o The ‘Professional Placement’ programmes (part of the BSc Hons) offer students the opportunity to spend an additional year working in the UK to gain further work experience
o The Undergraduate Masters programme (MSci) is a perfect springboard for any student wishing to study for a PhD, it provides a great opportunity to experience research at first hand and allows students to develop their research skills.
Scholarship opportunities All students accepted through the partnership will be offered a scholarship equivalent to 25% of the course tuition fee. We are also pleased to offer 2 exceptional students the ‘Head of College Scholarships’ equivalent to an additional 25% of the course tuition fee.

Entry requirements for BirminghamStudents will need to have passed Year 1 and 2 in either Biological Sciences or Biotechnology programmes at Fudan with an overall GPA of at least 3.0. Because we want to make sure that you have the appropriate background to do well at Birmingham, major subject specific courses must make up at least 60% of your first 2 years and you must have taken and passed all of the Science modules which make up the first 2 years of your programme at Fudan.
The choice of optional second year modules available to students at the University of Birmingham may be restricted. However students who have additionally taken Genetics
(BIOL130012) at Fudan will have a wider range of optional courses available to them when studying in Birmingham.
Students will also need to meet the normal admission requirements for English language:
o IELTS 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any band o TOEFL 80 with no less than 17 in any band
Students should normally take their English Language test in time to provide the University with the results by the end of June to start their course in the following September.
Living in BirminghamThe city of Birmingham has many attractions including its culture and entertainment, the retail experience, an international airport and good rail links to other parts of the UK and the world. The city is located at the heart of some of the UK’s most beautiful countryside. The University’s attractive campus, with its striking red brick architecture and open green spaces is located just 5 kilometres away from the city centre. The Chinese quarter in the city centre has a range of Chinese supermarkets and restaurants. Undergraduate students in their first year at the University of Birmingham live in halls of residence only a short walk from the main campus. The living cost in Birmingham is relatively cheap compared to other metropolitan cities in the UK and Europe.

该项目是由复旦大学和英国伯明翰大学合作，为有志于到英国学习并希望获得英国大学学位的学生搭建的一个良好的平台。
