From a Marianist Community of student brothers open to visitors for Sunday Eucharist, Queen of Apostles Community emerged as a non-territorial parish on August 28, 1973.

Continuing in the tradition of the Marianist Charism, we come together each week as a family of Catholic, Christian believers, to worship our God in the Eucharist with song &

praise and to share in the breaking of the Bread. In so doing, we proclaim our willingness to build a community of love and to be the holy people God calls us to be.

If you are visiting and worshipping with us for the first time, we extend to you our warmest welcome. Our prayer is that your worship experience will be uplifting and Spirit filled.

We hope you will visit us often and worship with us!

(If you’d like more information about us or would like to join our Community, please fill out the form on the back cover and drop it in the collection basket!)

NOTE: If the form on the back is missing, email [email protected] with your name, phone number, address and we’ll contact you about joining us.

Marianist Doxology May the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit be glorified in all places

through the Immaculate Virgin Mary.

STEWARDSHIP & GIVING

Feast of the Body & Blood of Christ: “Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread.” (1 Corinthians 10:17). As disciples of Jesus, we are called to lead holy lives and invite others to join us. Living a stewardship lifestyle, being grateful and generous with our gifts, serves a twofold purpose. One, it helps build God’s kingdom here on earth. Two, it is a road map to Heaven. Let’s help each other get there!

Deuteronomy 8:2-3, 14b-16a: The first reading helps develop the theological connection between manna and the Eucharistic bread, a connection Jesus himself makes in the gospel. In the body and blood of Christ, we have a perpetual pledge of God’s provident love.

1 Corinthians 10:16-17: By partaking of the body and blood of Christ we are joined to him and to one another in a unity of love that makes selfishness and individualism unthinkable. Eucharistic unity dispels prejudice, exclusivity, pride, disdain, arrogance, false humility or other expression of separation among people. Loving service of one another the natural expression of such unity.

John 6:51-58: Jesus has come down from heaven - not to give us food for the journey but to be our food for the journey. Jesus gives himself in the Eucharist, not divided or in part, but his very self, his being, his force, his soul and divinity. It is best not to concentrate on our worthiness to receive him but rather to dwell on how desperately we need to receive him to sustain ourselves.

Ministers Taking Eucharist to Those Not With Us

Presider: Let us send these ministers to those who could not be with us.

Response: Receive the Body of Christ for the nourishment of those who are not here with us. Assure our friends of our prayers and blessings throughout the week.

CELL PHONES: Please silence all cell phones before Mass begins.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: "Cast yourself into the arms of God and be very sure that if God wants anything of you, God will fit you for the work and give you strength." ~ St. Philip Neri

A DOG & A HOTEL A man wrote a letter to a small hotel in a Midwest town, which he planned to visit on his vacation. He wrote, "I would very much like to bring my dog with me. He is well groomed and very well behaved. Would you be willing to permit me to keep him in my room with me at night?"

An immediate reply came from the hotel owner, who said, "I've been operating this hotel for many years. In all that time, I've never had a dog steal towels, bedclothes, silverware or pictures off the walls. I've never had to evict a dog in the middle of the night for being drunk and disorderly. And I've never had a dog run out on a hotel bill. Yes, indeed, your dog is welcome at my hotel, and if your dog will vouch for you, you're welcome to stay here, too!"

STAGECOACH SURPRISE I had a dream the other night. I was in the old West riding in a stagecoach. Suddenly, a man riding a horse pulls up to the left side of the stagecoach, and a riderless horse pulls up on the right. The man leans down, pulls open the door, and jumps off his horse into the stagecoach. Then he opens the door on the other side and jumps onto the other horse.

Just before he rode off, I yelled out, "What was all that about?"

He replied, "Nothing. It's just a stage I'm going through."
