(Director, School of Physiotherapy) and Dr. Kartik Kothari (Head - Department of Mechanical Engineering, RK University) had developed the innovative "RK Walker", which is designed to assist differently abled patients to climb staircase up and down which was one of the major challenge in the simple traditional walker. This RK Walked is a perfect example of inter-disciplinary research that is promoted & encouraged at RK University. Dr. Priyashu Rathod had presented a research paper on this "Innovative RK Walker" and it was awarded the Best Poster Abstract Presentation at 5th Biennial Emirates Physiotherapy Conference. All three have been facilitated with certicate and award for outstanding contribution in physiotherapy. Out of 115poster abstract applications arrived from all over the world, 15 were selected for presentation at conference. The juries from international desk for scientic committee for research had appreciated the innovative work and invited for further collaboration and research on innovative RK walker.

ICRE’16 was a signicant contribution to the research fraternity and will grow even more in the years to come.

Extra-Curricular activities play a very i m p o r t a n t r o l e i n t h e o v e r a l l development of students. Every year students of RK University celebrates "Galore", one of the largest Sports & Cultural Festivals in Rajkot. This year the grand gala of "Galore" saw participation of over 5000 students, from seven colleges of RK University, in over 70+ cultural & sports competitions which went on for over a month. Senior Citizens of Rajkot beneted by Physiofest, 2016School of Phys io therapy, RK University had organized a two day National Physiotherapy Summit, "Physiofest 2016".Workshops on Muscle Energy Techniques (MET) by Dr. R . Har iha ra P rakash , On Neurodevelopmental Therapy (NDT) by Dr. Savji Nakum and On Antenatal & Postnatal Management by Dr. Shlesha Vaidya were organized on the rst day which were followed by the

c u l t u r a l p r o g r a m . Te c h n i c a l compe t i t i ons such a s Pos t e r Presentation, Platform Presentation (separately for Undergraduate & Post G r a d u a t e s t u d e n t s ) , M o d e l Exhibition, Quiz Competition etc. were scheduled on the next day. Physiofest 2016 has a special concentration on activities that would benet the Senior Citizens of Rajkot. School of Physiotherapy already runs

two clubs, "Rajkot Knee Club" and "Parkinson Disease Support Group" which conduct regular programs for the residents of Rajkot at RK Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation Centre near Bhakti Nagar Circle. During the Fest, Dr. Bhavana Gadhavi (Principal, AIMS, Ahmedabad) shared the needs of focusing on promotion, prevention, and cure of health issues related to senior citizens.

The highlight of the exhibition, was t h e R K Wa l k e r d e s i g n e d & development by Dr. Reema Jani at RK Un ive r s i t y, wh ich f ac i l i t a t e s physically challenged pupils to climb stairs. Different physiotherapy colleges from Saurashtra & Gujarat have beneted by participating in Physiofest, 2016.

One of the RKUniversity's Alumni, Mr. NiravKaneriya, is a person who has embarked on the journey of entrepreneurship after pursuing his M.Tech in Computer Sc ience Engineering and is now currently pursuing his Ph.D. as well.
