The Collège des administrateurs de sociétés (CAS) is the first French-language institution dedicated to the development of corporate directors. THREE SPECIALIZED COURSES

Over 700 individuals hold the designation of Administrateur de sociétés certifié (ASC). In Quebec, the designation is awarded only to graduates of the Collège’s certification program in corporate governance.

ASCs adhere to a code of ethics and commit to fulfilling their continuing education requirements. They have varied professional backgrounds and are first-rate candidates for bringing diversity to a board of directors.

In addition to the courses leading to certification in corporate governance, the Collège offers three specialized courses that give participants access to the expertise of 6 to 10 speakers. Specialized courses are offered on a two-day intensive basis with 15 hours of classroom training per course.

GOVERNANCE OF SMEsThis course is aimed at entrepreneurs, executives, directors and investors working in the world of SMEs. Participants will reflect on the governance practices that will most effectively support business sustainability and growth, and will identify concrete ways to achieve those objectives.

GOVERNANCE OF NPOsThis course is aimed at directors and officers of non-profit organizations that were created under Part III of the Quebec Companies Act or its federal equivalent, that have at least five employees and that are receiving public and/or private assistance to fulfill their mission. Participants will gain a better understanding of the role, responsibilities and obligations of NPO directors and managers. They will also explore key trends and concerns in governance.

Training hours offered by the Collège are recognized by the following professional corporations and associations. Training hours also fulfill the ongoing education requirement for holders of the Institute of Corporate Directors’s ICD.D designation.

GOVERNANCE AND CHAIR LEADERSHIPThis course is aimed at directors who regularly or occasionally chair a board of directors, one of its committees or an advisory committee of an SME. Participants will develop the behavioural skills and abilities needed to fulfill their key governance position as chairperson, and they will gain a broader understanding of the responsibilities of the position. Topics will be taught through case studies and small group simulations to maximize interaction.
