NTPC OUTPERFORMS STREET EXPECTATIONSThe total income of NTPC in FY 2014-15 has increased from 74,664.61 crore in the FY 2013-14 to 75,362.37 crore, despite stringent provisions of CERC Tariff Regulations for the period 2014-2019. Generation increased from 233.284 Billion Units to
241.261 Billion Units.
Q-4 PAT stood at ̀ 2,944 crore against the market expectation of ̀ 2,350 crore. PAT for FY 2014-15 stood at ̀ 10,290.86 crore against the market expectation of ̀ 9,400 crore.
Bonus Debenture with face value of ̀ 12.50/- each, in the ratio of 1 : 1 for each equity share with face value of ̀ 10/- totaling to ` 10,306 crore issued for the shareholders.
Out of the Dividend of ` 2.50 per share, ` 0.75 per share has already been paid in February, 2015 and ` 1.75 per share has
thbeen approved in the Board meeting held on 29 May, 2015.
NTPC commissioned its first hydro power project at Koldam during the fiscal.
During FY 2014-15, all coal stations of NTPC achieved Declared Capacity of above 83%. NTPC Coal stations achieved PLF of 80.23% as against National PLF of 64.46%.

Shri Pradeep Kumar Sinha, Power Secretary has been appointed as Cabinet Secretary, Govt. of India. Shri Sinha is a 1977 batch Uttar Pradesh cadre Indian Administrative Service officer. He has been serving as Secretary, Ministry of Power, since July 2013.
Shri Sinha has earlier served as secretary in the Ministry of Shipping, and has held several other important positions in the Union government and in Uttar Pradesh.

NTPC Limited and Govt. of Jharkhand have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on 3rd May, 2015 for transfer of Patratu Thermal Power Station (PTPS) to a Joint Venture Company to be promoted by NTPC and Jharkhand Bidyut Vitaran Nigam Ltd. (JBVNL) with 74:26 equity participation. The MoA was signed in the august presence of Shri Raghubar Das, Hon’ble Chief Minister, GoJ; Union Ministers, Shri Piyush Goyal, MoS (I/c), Power, Coal & NRE, Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy, MoS (I/c) Skill Development and Parliamentary Affairs and Shri Sudershan Bhagat, MoS, Social Justice and Empowerment, officials of State of Jharkhand and other esteemed persons. NTPC will have the overall management of JV Company which shall be responsible for performance improvement of existing station (about 325 MW) and capacity expansion by in two phases of 2400 MW and 1600 MW each.
MoA BETWEEN NTPC & GOVT. OF JHARKHAND
NTPC AND IITB SIGN MoU FOR R&DNTPC Ltd. and Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Research and Development in the areas of mutual interest mainly Solar PV, Solar Thermal, Process improvement & Heat transfer,
th Robotics etc. in Mumbai on 14 May, 2015. As per the MoU, joint R&D projects will be taken up for development of new technologies, performance improvement etc.
The MoU was signed by Shri R.K. Srivastava, Executive Director, NTPC-NETRA, and Prof. K.P. Kaliappan, Associate Dean (R&D), IITB in the presence of senior officials of NTPC and IITB.

NTPC entered into a MoU with Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (NSDF – National Skill Development Fund) and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and allocated ̀ 6.50 Cr. from its CSR Fund for year 2015-16 and 2016-17 for various skill development programs. These skill development projects will be pursued at 22 locations with special focus on the eastern states/part of the country where NTPC power plants are located. 5000 youths will be trained in various vocational skill sets.
The tripartite MoU was signed by Shri Pawan Agrawal, IAS, Jt. Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Govt. of India (NSDF), Shri U.P. Pani Director (HR), NTPC and Shri Dilip H. The website for Vendor Enlistment for procurement of materials, works and services across NTPC has been developed and hosted by in-house effort of Corporate IT team. The website enables enlistment of vendors for establishing long term business relationship with NTPC. The process of enlistment was engineered by Central Procurement Cell at Corporate Center under the guidance of Shri M.R.P. Rao, CVO. The website has the facility of new vendor registration and uploading various documents authenticating their general financial and technical capability.
A workshop on Fly Ash Management and Utilisation was organised at Talcher Kaniha on 6 May, 2015 by Odisha State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB), Fly Ash Resource Centre (FARC) and NTPC Kaniha. Shri Gokul Chandra Pati, Hon’ble Chief Secretary, Govt. of Odisha was the Chief Guest and he visited the exhibition displayed by the station highlighting Ash Utilisation activities of Talcher Kaniha and Talcher Thermal. Shri D.K. Behera, Sr. Scientist, OSPCB gave the introductory address and welcomed the senior state administration officials, representatives from thermal power producers & entrepreneurs of fly ash user industries.
Chief Secretary held a meeting with senior officials to prepare a road map for formation of proposed Fly Ash Park in Angul district. He advised for formation of a Special Purpose Vehicle involving local administration and power producers as members for a common fly ash cluster zone to find out ways for optimum utilisation for fly ash.

A compilation of our CSR activities was published through a book 'Making a Difference' which was published by McGraw Hill in 2012 (1st Edition), and is available on the NTPC Intranet. As the book was very well accepted and appreciated and 3 years have elapsed since its first edition, there are very many new success stories undertaken by NTPC and its employees which can now be put in the book in its next edition.
All employees are therefore requested to send write-ups (maximum 1,500 words) on CSR activities in story format (Hindi or English) with suitable photographs, which you believe made a difference in and around NTPC. He visited the main plant area and reviewed the progress
of the project implementation. Shri R. Venkateswaran,

officers of Kudgi project were present on the occasion.

During his visit, CMD inaugurated the Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS) and visited newly renovated Coal Testing Laboratory and appreciated the lab by saying this is one of the best labs in NTPC he has visited. Shri P.K. Mohapatra, GGM and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
Senior officials also visited the proposed location for Telangana Super Thermal Power Station Stage-I (2x800 MW). CMD alongwith Directors addressed employees at the Directors at Your Door programme. Addressing the employees CMD said Ramagundam is one of the best power plants in India and urged employees to make it as largest power station in NTPC and in India. The programme was attended by employees in large numbers. Office bearers of different unions and associations were also present on this occasion. Shri K.K. Sharma, Director (Operations) and Shri U.P. Pani, Director (HR) answered the queries from employees.

CMD INAUGURATES SRHQ OFFICE PREMISESThe new office building of Southern Region
Headquarters at Hyderabad was
inaugurated by Dr. Arup Roy Choudhury, r dCMD on 23 May, 2015. Shri R.

Ghosh, ED (HR) and other senior officials
were present on the occasion. In his
address to the employees CMD said that
the Company has drawn plans to
strengthen the Regional Headquarters. The
ten storied office building, which has a total office space of 10000 sq. mtrs, houses NTPC
Disaster Recovery Centre also.
CMD presented 35 years NTPC Long Service Awards to Shri R. Venkateswaran, RED (South) and
Shri Nandakishore Bose, AGM (Inspection Services), Hyderabad on this occasion.
Dulanga Coal Mining Project has been contributing in the area of education, health, drinking water/sanitation, infrastructure development, capacity building and other spheres of human growth in project affected villages in its vicinity through various ICD initiatives.
In continuation of this effort, Shri Naresh Anand, General Manager handed over Demand Draft of ` 143.25 Lakh to Shri B.S. Poonia, District Collector, Sundargarh for execution of the peripheral development activities of the District. He was also apprised of construction activities carried out under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by Dulanga Coal Mining Project. R&R issues were also discussed during the meeting.
Sanyukta Mahila Samiti of NTPC, in association with Saheli Club & Bal Bhavan, Noida and Deepshikha Ladies Club of Badarpur donated tents, mattresses and blankets worth ` 2.2 lakh approx. for victims of Nepal earthquake.

thHeadquarters in Secunderabad on 25 May, 2015. As a part of its CSR initiative towards empowerment of women, NTPC had arranged vocational training programme in tailoring for these women at Prakrithi Environment Society, an NGO, in Hyderabad. Smt. Janaki Venkateswaran, President and members of Dakshin Deepanjali Mahila Samiti and NTPC officials were also present on the occasion. Thirty women from Balanager and nearby slum areas of Hyderabad benefited from the vocational training.
NTPC in association with IL&FS Centre, Sainikpuri, Secunderabad organized a skill development training programme on automotive services technician trade for 15 youth from leprosy affected families from Hayathnagar in Hyderabad. After 40 days of training the youth were suitably employed as automotive technicians. Smt. Sharmila Roy Choudhury and Smt. Janaki Venkateswaran presented certificates to the youth who had successfully completed skill development training programme on automotive services technician trade.
