MSN Degree Program Requirements.

The MSN degree prepares graduates for advanced leadership positions in nursing. The three areas of nursing specialty are:

> Nurse Educator> Nursing Informatics> Nursing Administration

A certificate in the selected area of specialty is awarded along with the MSN degree. Visit www.tesu.edu/nursing/msn.cfm.

Graduate Nursing Certificate Programs.The graduate nursing certificate programs are designed for experienced RNs with a master’s in nursing who want to develop the knowledge and skills needed to practice in another area of nursing specialty. The specialties offered are the same as those in the MSN program.Visit www.tesu.edu/nursing/grad-certificates.cfm.

DNP in Systems- Level Leadership.The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) is an online doctoral degree program with a specialty area in Systems-Level Leadership that can be completed full time in 18 months or part time in 36 months. The program prepares students to lead healthcare organizations.Visit www.tesu.edu/nursing/dnp.cfm.

BSN Degree Program Requirements. The BSN degree program requires a minimum of

120 credits.

General EducationThe credit requirement in general education provides the foundation for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Many of these credits are earned through

transfer and prior learning assessment.

Professional NursingThe nursing requirement includes credit in lower-

division and upper-division nursing.

Lower-Division NursingThe lower-division nursing requirement will be satisfied by transfer credit from an associate degree nursing program or by the award of

credit for diploma nursing course work.

Upper-Division NursingThe upper-division nursing requirement may be completed entirely through online courses offered by the W. Cary Edwards School of Nursing. Four graduate courses will be completed by all RN-BSN degree students and may be applied to the MSN

degree.

ElectivesElective credits of college-level course work and examinations that do not duplicate other credits may be used. Additional lower-division nursing courses may be accepted.

Scholarships AvailableThe baccalaureate degree program in nursing, the master’s degree program in nursing and doctor of nursing practice program at Thomas Edison State University are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC 20001, (202) 887-6791.
