  1. 1. HOW TO OPEN REASON? Click on applications Open the music tab Click on Propellerhead Reason 7 Click on run with multi licence
  2. 2. HOW TO CREATE A MIXER click on create and go to the utilities tab, click on the 14.2 mixer., This is the basic tool you are going to need to control the volume of all of your tracks.
  3. 3. How to use a mixer Volume control for the channel. The Equalizer for the channel. This means we can boost and cut frequencies. The pan settings for the channel. Pan is when you change an audio channel to make it only produce sound out of the left or right headphone, this is called the stereo field. The master volume of all channels. This is what you want if you want all channels at the Channel 1 mute. Mutes the current track Channel 1 solo. Mutes all other tracks apart from selected channel
  4. 4. HOW TO CREATE A DRUM TRACK Click on the mixer once, so it is highlighted. Click create, instruments, then add a drum track of your choice. Then the drum track will appear already synced with your mixer.
  5. 5. HOW TO USE A DRUM TRACK Select the part of the drum kit you want, The numbers below the tracks on the drum track and select the numbers you want a beat to play in. Do this for all of the tracks and you will have a piece of music made with drums.
  6. 6. HOW TO USE A SAMPLER Click on create, instruments and NN-XT Advanced Sampler. Double click the arrow to reveal the piano. Click on the pen icon and draw some notes. Click this arrow to reveal the piano. Click on the pen and draw the notes.
  7. 7. HOW TO CREATE A SYNTH TRACK 1.Click on create. 2.Click on instruments. 3. Click on Subtractor Analog synthesizer
  8. 8. HOW TO USE A SYNTH TRACK 1.Click on the pencil icon and draw a block in your subtractor. 2. Click on the cursor and double click your block you just created. A piano should appear. 3. Draw in your notes.
  9. 9. HOW TO BALANCE PAN AND EQ. The pan settings for the track, this causes sound to come out of one side of the earphone. The equaliser for the track, this needs to be adjusted so you can hear the track correctly.
  10. 10. HOW TO USE A MIDI KEYBOARD. Select your desired track. Press record and start playing.
  11. 11. HOW TO CHANGE THE LENGTH OF NOTES. 1. Select the cursor. 2.Extend the arrow at the end of the note, which will extend the note.
  12. 12. STEP TIME INPUT 1.Click in notes using the mouse 2.Use the computers numeric keyboard and type the letter keys on the keyboard 3.Use a MIDI keyboard (or controller) to enter in the notes and rests one at a time
  13. 13. HOW TO ADD NOTES WITH A MOUSE Ensure you have the pencil tool selected. Draw in the notes by clicking on the place you wish to draw your note.
  14. 14. HOW TO EDIT NOTE POSITION Select the cursor tool and click on the note you wish to change the position of and drag the cursor to the location you wish to move it to.
  15. 15. HOW TO CHANGE PITCH Select the sample you wish to change the pitch of. The slightly greyed out note is the pitch your sample is currently at. To change this, simply click on another note.
